I was trying to change the oli and pulled the wrong plug. (yes im an idiot). I let about 1qt at the most drain out before realizing it was red and not brown

Do I need to have it serviced? It apparently takes T4 (not world standard) fluid and there seems to be no place to add more myself. Plus im obviously too stupid to attempt it anyway. Can I drive it in th meantime while I figure out what to do?

Its a 2 wheel drive v5 2005 prerunner. 75k miles (should I just flush it?)

Thanks for ANY and ALL help!

Sealed tranny. You can re-add, but it's not in the usual location for doing so. There's a writeup on here for you somewhere.

For future reference: drain your oil instead when changing the oil.

Never mind my solution only applies to the V6, not familiar with teh V5... j/k you should be just fine to either replace the fluid yourself or drive it to a shop and have them add it. 1qt isn't gonna kill it.

haha ok i fat fingered that. menat v6 obviously. the guy at the shop made it sound like it was very difficult to add myself and more importantly i need to tow it there and not drive it. false on both accounts?

At least he didn't try to put it back in via the coolant overflow tank.

These threads never get old.... and we owe all our laughs to Krazie for the original thread.

Op, best of luck to you, you're not the first one this has happened to!

I work at a Lexus dealer as a tech and we had a customer come in and say that he filled up his windshield washer fluid (LX470) . His low fluid light was still on.
He completely filled the res. of the hydraulic suspension! That took a long time to flush.
