How often do u guys check the PSI on your Spare Tire?

I never use my spare tire. I wonder how much psi u put in it and how often u have to check too. I think since I got my truck never check the psi. I didn't even know if my spare tire still there. Lol. ohh...btw, I'm only highway. Never went to off road yet and PreRunner. Lol. Thanks.

 

i run the same psi as in the other tires, and I check it a couple of times a year maybe

 

Not very often. Probably haven't checked it in over a year. I just kick it every now and then to make sure it's filled.

 

When I rotate the tires. I have 265/55r20s. Front at 33psi and back at 36. When I rotate the tires, I bust out the compressor and adjust the tires. While I'm at it, I check the spare. Eventually, I'm going to buy this:

Run the hose to maybe my frame so I can access it from under the wheel well.

 

I never checked mine until last week when I got my new wheels. DT pulled it down to flash the TPMS but found it didn't have one. It was still at the recommended pressure. They even flipped it over for me so I could check it easier in the future.

 

I only check it if the TPMS light comes on. Ha.

So was mine supposed to have the tpms on it? Or do some not have them on the spare?

 

Every time I change the oil I check mine. But then again it's easier for me to check since I do it at work on a lift and don't have to crawl under to get at it.

It surprises me how many cars I see at work with 0-10psi in the spare tire. What good is a spare if it's flat?

I do carry a 12v pump in my truck just in case. It's slow as hell but it's better than nothing. So what does everyone use that wheel a lot to air back up?

 

I've got a portable 12v air pump from a Porsche that fills up a flat in about 5 minutes....give or take a few.

 

Probably. I'm sure Toyota got tired of all the people coming in freaking out about their tires... Just to find out it is the spare.

i check the spare every time before i go on the trail or tow something to the trail..which can be as often as once a week
