1999 sr5 build

Started the day ready to put in some serious work. Got to my buddys garage and he starts to belly ache about his 1988 he wants to SAS. So I go get my welder and grinder and did all of the mods to his front axle.

so I am just gonna post some pics of that cause I think I did a fine job of it!!
We also put gussets in the ends by the ball knuckle, and boxed in the bump stops.

today I cut a panel for my lil cubby under the stereo. This is where I am going to put the switches for lights, an aux amp for some rear speakers the wife wants, and an aux rear light . Been so rainy and snowy havent had time to paint or install my roof rack and basket. I will have it as soon as the weather breaks.
I am trying to figure out the most highspeed/lowdrag setup of pelican boxes for camping and have narrowed it down to three out of the quiver of sizes I have for ease of travel while still being able to sleep in the back. Still trying to narrow it down to two which wont be hard I dont think.


I also made a super ultralite alcohol stove if anyone cared!!

Kinda like to have this all the time for easy coffee or oats in the am while travelling or whatever

 

I replaced the radiator again this weekend as well as the power steering pump pulley.

I sent the hood and the fender to the paint shop.

Installed the roof rack/cargo basket.

And since I couldnt drive it til tonight when I got the hood and fender back I painted the rims and a bed liner rocker panel addition.

I made a prefilter out of an Outerwear dirtbike filter blank. It was an 18"X18" square I made a cinch sack out of to protect the K&N

 

Frame plates, HiLow jack mount, shovel mount, CB radio/ashtray install and off road lights will come this weekend. Also gonna try to work somemore on the rear bumber but that is moving slow.

Rear diamond plate frame plates, plug welded and undercoated. I love the 3M undercoating, that stuff is awesome.

 

does yours come off easily? like if you take your finger nail an scratch it, does it come right off?

 

Nope its like the factory thick rubberish kinda stuff. Its tough as hell. It is the 3M kind. The Rustoleum undercoat did come off easy so I opted to pay a lil extra and get the good stuff.

Thanks girl. Coming along slow but steady like a freight train!! Just waitin for taxes to see the lift get ordered, mama has stipulations on parts buying......like pay for everything else then get parts kinda deal!!! Just been working on the mods that I have stuff already sitting around for. Getting to the bottom of the barrel tho, so pretty much after a rear bumper and rock sliders- which I got all the material free for- its gonna be time to drop the money on a lift. And the rear bumper is on the fab table as we speak!!

 

man, if you ever feel like creating toys you can always borrow my truck your is coming along pretty fast. mine is taking forever, i havent even finished the needed to be done stuff yet, let alone get to the fun stuff.

 

Well I am a busy body so I am always workin on something just kinda turned my focus to the truck right now.

See I bought the truck and the wife claimed it as her own, I just collected items I wanted to add to it until it was mine. I had a lot of time to think about the mods. Then a turn of events made the truck mine about a year early!! So here I am doing all the things I wanted to do when I bought it.

She wanted to keep it stock, I didnt! Now I can play all I want!!

I just finished the roughed in rear bumper and gas/water can brackets!!! Gotta figure out a way to get tag lights on it then I am going to put it on.....

Thinkin a removable hitch mount with a quick connect plug like a trailer that I can remove the tag/hitch and light when I need the reciever. Since I very rarely tow anything I think I can figure something out fairly easy. I am actually looking at an old buick regal flip down plate holder to modify for this but its all still on the drawing table til I can figure it out....Until then I have a 80% done rear bumper in the bed!!!

Just finished some removable jerry can racks for the rear bumper. Also bed lined the exterior of the can.

 

I'll let ya know, if i dont have to ride that weekend i will go for sure

 

I added a switch plate for aux light switches, amp, fog lights, etc. just waiting on the switches and lights to come in. I also installed my cb where the ashtray once was! Since I don't smoke it just had rattley ass change in it!

 

Been awhile since i posted. I added some off road lights. and the switch plate and a few other lil things. Also put on my rear bumper finally.
Here is how the bumper sits this am.






Jerry can racks are removable. I just drilled and tapped 3/8" bolts.



Trying to figure out a permenant solution to the license plate and tag light, but this will work for now. I also added the turnsignals to the marker lights which isnt real clear in the pic, but I put them back in and forgot to take a pic before hand. sorry all.

I also added the quick disconnect for my CB antenna. Its a Firestick with the tunable tip and I really like it. Works great and sounds clear. My wife hates it and that was part of the reason for the quick disconnect!!

She also wanted her own flashlight in the cab like mine so her we have dualling flashlights>

I am going to put a couple of Led light bars in for under the hood this week as well cause I just like having a lil extra light. I am trying to find one of the old stock retractable ones from the 90s toyota pickup right now to also add.
