So, since I was unable to find a rack to go over the Bestop cover and be removable I decided to make my own. Here is what I have so, I am using a piece of 3/4 EMT conduit so I can get the shape I was and have it bent out of some 1.5 inch .120 wall steel tubing. The plates that are sticking out are 1/4 inch thick and I'm using 3/16th 2inch angle iron to attach it to the bed rails. Here are a few pics of what I have so far. 2012-02-06153022_86cb0becf11cac6d845ee202949b2a1bd43b5d59.jpg
So the rough size of the plate right now before I cut it down to be less pointed and more angled towards the tube steel that will be centered on the out side edge is 6x5, and the angle iron has 1 inch cut off of one side to make it mount lower (see pic).2012-02-06153106_c4df4d3110070d9daf6bf2a76449d84d858d4cbf.jpg

So in this pic ^^^ you can see the basic shape of the bends. The top is 3.5 inches up off the topper and there is a 3inch gap in the sides with 1.5 away at the plate.

And here is the view from a distance. You can also see where I got rear ended and the guy broke my cheap light :( BUT! bought me an Armor Tech Offroad bumper :D :yay:

So let me know what you all think so far.

Not much just the stuff that won't fit in the bed. The only weak part in it should be where it is attached to the bed rails the rest is over killed, but I am thinking of making some sort of quick disconnect for the main tubing going over the bed so I can remove it easily like the soft top.

Are you going to have horizontal bars connecting your two upright hoops ?

That would make it a lot more rigid .

That it would. I think I will have the 2 hoops bent, welded, and tested and if it needs the extra bars they would be easy to add.

Yeah I'm going for something like that but I'm trying to some what match the Avid light bar on the front.

I will have the rest of the plates welded tomorrow and then I'm off to find some good prices on the tubing.
