I searched the forums and wanted to see what exactly the VSC icon looks like. The guy at the off road shop looked inside my truck and really didnt know what he was doing.

I have a 2010 off road dcsb. I asked him " traction control"? he wasnt sure. so he quoted me for a 17 rim and tire package. i called procomp and they said if you have VSC minimum wheel size is 18 inches. So how can i tell if i have vsc or not?>

this is what my switches look like. (borrowed pic)

    This^

Is that their way of getting around the VSC + Lift and/or wheels problem some people have?

I have never heard that 18" wheels are required for a lifted Tacoma with VSC.

all tacoma's come with vsc and most come with 16" inch wheels. I think they are trying to scam more money out of you.

    Correct.

    2005-2008 VSC was optional.
    2009+ VSC was standard.

Procomp is off their rocker. They probably are sitting on a bunch of 18" wheels.

Bash all you want, but ProComp is the only company that actually tests their 6" lifts against the VSC system for compatibility problems.

Yeah, they deserve the heat for selling their 3" lift kits with the mondo 720 lb springs onto regular cabs.

And yeah, lots of folks don't like the 6" drop bracket lifts for various reasons.

But if a 6" drop bracket lift is what you want, I'd listen to those guys when they tell you the info from their fitment guide.

I thought the rim size was meant for tie rod clearance?

Probably exactly what it's for: to fit on their suspension.

You don't need 18" wheels if you are just buying wheels.

    I'm confused...

OP, Why don't you just listen to ProComp? I got my 6" lift last month, and I have almost the same truck you do.

You need 18" wheels because of the tie-rod location on the new knuckles. They were placed there because of the sensor for the VSC...

The kit requires 18" or larger wheels, just get 18" or larger wheels. It's a great kit.

Yeah, im going to buy 18's. I was going to have 4wheelparts install the lift with Procomp stage 1, moto metal 961 18's and 295/70-17 trail grapplers but instead of paying the 8-900 for install gonna do it with my bro and get the stage 2 kit instead.
