    Well I've got a 2008 TRD Off-road and got in a little accident this winter and I'm finally getting it fixed...Talked to the guy at the shop today and I'm getting a hood with the hood scoop at no extra charge! Wooo! I'll post photos as soon as I get the truck back next week!

    I have heard that a 1000 times here. I made my hood scoop functional in 30 min, don't know why anybody have tried it yet. I'll probably write a "how to" thread.

    That's true. At least "open" it cools down the firewall and engine bay which makes it "functional" specially in summer.:)

    To be honest, I don't know if I'd want it to be "functional." With all the off-roading I do and all the mud flying around, I don't think I'd want the chance of mud flying into my engine bay so easy...

    Good point. The hood itself have supports that work very good channeling the rain water that can get through the hood scoop. It looks like it was designed to be open but it's not.:confused: My brothers Celica has an open hood scoop and it directs air to the firewall. I just decided to open mine because I think it might help cooling the firewall and keeping the engine bay temps down, specially during summer. Plus it makes me feel better that it's doing something. :)

    Being as the scoop lies in a low pressure area of the hood, air will not flow into it and to the fire wall. Air will be pulled from it. De some research on truck aerodynamics, and you will see. 2 high pressure areas on the front of trucks (and most cars) are 1. Right at the grill. 2. at the base of the windshield, and up. Opening the hood scoop does nothing in the way of makeing air flow into it.

    You are freaking knowledgeable about this stuff...and fave the references to back it up. Nice work!

    I'm actually thinking about sealing mine up so the salty winter water and mud do not get in my engine bay. I painted my hood cover and I want it looking nice and shiny!
