Hey jack, u said electrician right? If my garage was wired for 2 -2 8ft tubed floursecent lights, how much larger fixtures can i add w/o having to add another fuse and more wiring

that would depend what else is on the circuit, 12 items (plugs or lights) is the max for a 15A circuit.

I'm not familiar with the American codes, but the Canadian code allows you to exceed 12 with lights that have ballasts up to 80% of the breaker rating. a 4ft 2 lamp T8 fixture draws 0.5A, so you could legally put up to 24 fixtures on one circuit.

 

So for a 15A fuse i can easily add, 3-4 tube 8ft fixtures

 

I think the draw on 8ft 2 lamp T12's is around 2A per fixture, so you could put in 8 - 4ft 2 lamp T8's and you wouldn't increase your power bill at all.

 

pretty sure you have T12 fixtures (tubes 1 1/2" in diameter), take those down and you could put up 8 - 4ft 2 lamp T8's (tubes 1" in diameter) and draw the same amount of power.

Cool, so if i wanted to add a third fixture i can just tie it into the one of the other fixtures andd a new box where i want it and call it a day
