So this was our "Learning How to Snowshoe Trip." We didn't find any birds or rabbits. Saw some rabbit tracks, but couldn't scare any up. The snow was probably 5 to 6 feet deep. Ege looked like she was swimming when she got out of the area we had packed down with the snowshoes. First time we've tried that area this time of year. We turned around before we got in far enough for the good view of Sleeping Lady. I'll look for the pic we took from last year. Not a disappointment though. We know the old Army snowshoes work...probably need to go back to our DRMO buddy for another two poles...we were thinking gun in one hand and pole in the other, but would be better slinging gun and having two poles. And we saw some beautiful scenery and got a little exercise. That's probably another good lesson...need to put in some extra time on the elliptical trainer 'cuz snowshoeing is harder than it looks. Reminded me of running on the beach as far as how it worked the thigh muscles. It beats sitting inside on the couch!

There's a place we've hunted this time of year up in the Eureka/Lake Louise area. Terrain and wind pattern made the snow not so deep in this one section. Might try that on the next long break (in 2 weeks). Here are some pics:

Morning Dave...the weather was beautiful! It was a nice day and we really enjoyed getting out. A week prior to this we were just coming out of a long sub-zero streak. The "cabin fever" was getting pretty bad!

Good to hear the weather is improving, spring is coming. Been in the 80's here for a few weeks now,kind of overcast this morning.

 

It'll be another 2 to 3 months for us...but Kristi and I are flying to San Antonio 27 Feb to see our oldest son/daughter-n-law and grandkids; 10 days--it'll be a nice break and recharge our spirits to make it through to Summer. Then the fishing starts and it's all good for 4 to 5 months.
