That is a GREAT question- What makes you want a truck?? Are you looking to offroad, tow, drive it to the mall and movies??

What is your budget?? What are your other perferances (Stick vs Auto, 4x4 vs 4x2..etc)

We will all tell you Tacomas are great and we love our trucks...but that doesn't help you decide.

The more info you give the masses...The more useful the responses will be.

well, Im looking for something that can haul my lawn mower as well as pinestraw, mulch. offroading occassionally. I had a nissan frontier. I like the fact that the tacomas have the locking rear differential.

Stick on hood scoop from Autozone.

Then you would want the TRD OR, which is a V6.

+1- Next thing to think about is the space in the cab- Double cab for the family or something smaller?? Where does it fit your budget??

You won't get an 09 with a locker for under 22,000.

I have an access cab and have plenty of room, the rear seats fold flat, perfect for a dog! However, the seat design changed in the 09 and no longer fold flat. I would get a double cab.

Yeah...Access cab would work for that. So I would look for an 08 or 09 Tacoma Off Road Access Cab with whatever Transmission/Drive combo you want.

I tihnk you can get it 4x4 or 4x2 with the locker- and in 5 speed auto or 6 spd manual.

And what DA said- It's not gunna be less than 22K for an 09.

I have an '09 5 lug Access Cab with the 4 cylinder. The new electronic limited slip differential works very well on slippery boat ramps and I get three dogs including a Lab, a Pit and a 40 lb mutt in the back with the seats down.
