x2... you said you like the mud in other threads so I'd stay away from a cold air intake. Our intakes already draw cold air from the fender, all you'll gain is noise (you'll actually lose power with a K&N style intake because it draws hot air from the engine bay vs. cold air from the fender).

Despite the warnings, there are several recent threads in the FS section for different brands if you dare.

I would buy filter sleeve for it. I dont go hardcore offroading. I just spent 5 days cleaning my engine with mud so no offroading for a few months. I have had intakes on all my trucks and jeeps and had good luck with them. Good sound and noticeable power. Now huge but I can tell it.

I know its cold from the factory but want to dress up the engine as well. I would never pay full price for the intake but If i can get a good deal then its worth it. I just want a little pep on the throttle responese. Thats all

I have done prenty of research. I know that 8 to 10hp on intakes are a bunch of crap. I know its not enough to see on dynos but I can tell for myself.Even a little bit helps even if its small it helps. I have duals, now i want intake to complete it.

You haven't done enough research if you still want a K&N intake for your Tacoma. You will LOSE power with that intake for the reasons I mentioned above. This has been proven and not by a butt dyno. Just cause you're making more noise, doesn't mean you have more power.

If you want a cold air intake for performance gains, the only 2 you should be considering are the AFE STage 2Si or the URD true cold air intake in my opinion of course. Even the AFE doesn't do much but it's a lot better than the 2 you listed in your OP. Pair the intake with a MAF calibrator and you might actually start to see some benefit. Otherwise, you're just wasting your money on a bunch of noise.

Yea guess your right. I mean i kind of wanted it just to dress up the engine more and have it look good but if its gonna do nothing for me maybe your right. I should just get a drop in filter for 20 and be done with it. Thank god i have tacoma people to tell me not to buy it now lol. I should just save my money for billes. Thats what i need. Thanks

AFE makes a dry/100% cleanable drop in! Noticed my slight throttle lag is just about gone. With the hood up you can hear the extra air being sucked in and it sounds pretty cool....lol!

I saw u mentioned urd and trd, but not volant. The sealed case of the volant works great.

Yeah! I've been running my fully sealed Volant CAI and have had no issues. Its one of only 3 true CAI's on the market.

Maybe the old Volants had check engine issues. But sorry to say. Haven't seen any issues with them so far

I love my URD and there is definetly power gain. especially when you add the MAF MAF Calibrator.

Exactly Csjumper! Plus that Urdu is only good for street trucks. No wet offroading with that thing
