And if you get stranded you could use it to keep your feet warmer. At least one foot.

Most cell towers have a 6-8 hour run span on generator standby these days. They stopped using bigger tanks due to the electric companies do not have prolonged outages like the 70's and earlier. So don't count on cell phones after about 6 hours of no power to the towers (No pun intended).

Anyone mounted a knife to the side of their seat? Sort of how people are mounting maglites? I was thinking of putting some velcro on the side of my seat panel plastic and also on the knife sheath.

If I mounted a knife I would want it between the seat and the center console. I had my mag light mounted between the seat and door and I did not like it at all. the only way to get to it was to open the door..there were several times when I needed to access it while driving.

Here is my back pack for the Tacoma, my plan is to keep it loaded and ready to go. Getting close to my first trail run with it.

I went to mount it today and did indeed see why it sucks to be mounted doorside of the seat. I did still mount it doorside but towards the back of the seat. I can still get to it while I am sitting with a little effort, it isn't visible from the outside of the vehicle for any theif eyes, and if it happens to go flying for whatever reason I can be assured it will not go flying at my feet/legs.

I mounted it on my 1st gen but this thread is pretty legit, I couldn't resist the ideas in here!:D

Hey Mike, thats not a bad pack, but my advice is to plan what your expectations are. My bag is designed for 72-96 hours on foot, going from work to house to out of town.
everyones bag is different and tailored to their own needs or environment. Mine is more urban centered, but I can add on my bivy kit in 30 seconds if I need to. start wiht what your most probable scenarios are (hurricane, blizzard, civil unrest) and go from there.

Im thinking that would be good then because i would like one for at least 72 hours plus whatever i can utilize my truck for. When Im not working i usually am out of the city. I went to check the bag out in person and it is pretty big i think the price is pretty good to. I plan on setting it up more for getting out of town and staying out.
