You're going to have to get an electrician to install a 220 outlet. I'm lucky that I've got electrician friends :D

    Yes that would work!

The longer the cord the thicker it has to be.

Depending on the welder you may need a larger circuit in the panel. Also you will need to make sure the wire in the wall is large enough to handle the amp draw. And welders use a NEMA 6.50 that's different then a drier so you will need an adapter or modify your extension cord.

I have this one and it's great http://store.cyberweld.com/230voexco25.html it's a little pricey but it's 8/3 SOOW so it will handle just about any welder.

or you can make your own if you need it longer http://www.skycraftsurplus.com/83soowpowercord.aspx

^^^ JLEE speaks the truth! i love my magnetic ground! it is a fucking LIFE SAVER!

for any of you that are into tig welding like i am, i will suggest a hand control for working on your truck vs. the foot control 99% of welders use. if you have never tried one, try it. you will fucking love the thing.

I'd use one of those magnetic ones... but it probably wouldnt stick to aluminum very well! hahaha
