That'll most likely happen after tires...not worried about it now though.

I was thinking about something similar, but not as cool as your ideas. Just not sure how to do it right.

Do most people paint the wheels with the tires on? I was just wondering how painting the wheels hold up to tire installation and what harm it can do the paint.

Seems like most people paint with them on...if you look around the forums you'll see several write ups. I'm almost positive that the mounting machine would scratch the hell out of the lip of the rims after they're painted.

    I like 1 and 3.

Are you planning on spray painting them or powder coating them? I called a local shop by me and they wanted $125 per wheel to powder coat them all black, nothing special, and I had to remove the tires and all for them, I would still have to paint the center caps and get the tires put back on, and they would have them for 1-2 weeks. After that I decided it would be easier to just buy new wheels, even thought I really like the TRD SR5/Off Road wheels.

As I mentioned before, I think I'm gonna do the first one up in Plastidip just to see how it works and if I like it or not. That way I can ctrl-z it if I don't like it. Once I've decided whether I like it in person or not, I'll use "real" paint and do it that way.

I was just about to post a thread asking how to paint my wheels like choice number 3 when I found this thread. Thanks for the Photoshop of the wheels I was wondering how they would look done like that. Looks like I am going to do mine now. I also was going to plastic-dip for a trial run in case I did not like it.
Has anyone painted part of their wheels before?
If so how did you get the lines just right? I may have to hire someone that does pin-stripping to lay the tape, I am not good at taping fine edges.
