Workman is glad that OZ thought this was funny. The sad thing is that Workman was being serious. He worked a stint in SLC recently and knows that this is exactly what someone from Utah would say. Workman thinks it is truly pathetic how sue happy some Americans are. If Workman could move to BC and work he would. Workman loves Canada, and has many good times at Whistler, Vancouver, V. Island, Fernie, Revelstoke...:canada:

BTW, Workman has his ABS fuses pulled...

If you look at the underside of the fusebox lid under the hood, there is a schematic naming the fuses and showing their location, they are simply called ABS 1 and ABS 2. Pull them out and put 'em in your glovebox, if you want ABS etc. again, just plug them back in ! no problems !

I just did some searching around, there doesn't seem to be a precedent as far as what insurance would do, or the law if you were in a wreck and discovered you had disabeled the ABS. The solution..... :) A dummy fuse takes care of this, just put a broken fuse in and walla! If you're caught its not your fault the fuses were bad... I had no idea.

Not a bad idea....seeing as how when I wreck vehicles the hood normally is pretty well stuck.

I've ran into the extended stopping distances also: ie, downhill, elevated exit ramp when the ABS starts making all kinds of wonky sounds and found the only way to stop was physically pump the brakes to hinder the ABS motor....sounds weird I know...but it kept me from buying the tails of a couple cars at the stoplight at the base of the exit.

I'm almost thinking if you yank them you'll get a light on the dash. Will try tomorrow evening and find out.

You definitely get a dash light

You get the ABS and VSC lights on newer '09+ Tacomas

Count me in on this issue, though it has only happened once, shortly after I bought my 09'. I don't remember the specifics of the situation, but will never forget how inappropriately the ABS responded and that I slid through a red stop light on busy street. I'm a very safe driver who is always driving to slow even when the pavement is dry. I drive large vehicles (trucks/flatbeds etc) for work, averaging well over 1000 miles miles a week over the last twenty years, no accidents or tickets during that time (dam I'm jinxed now...)

Im stoked i saw this thread. It happened to me today! i was going down a hill to a stop sign and the road was pretty rough but completely dry. I tried to break in the middle of the hill while doing about 15mph and I had no breaking at all. It kinda scared me so i let off and tried it again and it was very light breaking and my foot was to the floor and i went into the intersection! luckily the other trucked saw me coming and stopped! He was pissed i rolled the stop sign so i had to explain what had happened. I never had this problem with my 1st gen.

I go snowboarding every sunday and there hasnt been any snow on the roads yet but the thought of this happening on a snowy mountain is pretty shitty!

Black Tape Mod? ??? Do tell... I'd rather do something along these lines than have another dash light to glare at.
