Looks like you guys with the 2012's may not see them. Per ARB's Facebook posting on one that was released for the 2010+ FJ Cruisers.

    Yes.
Well, there technically is not one for the 2005+ anyway. It is modified to fit.

True, hence the lack of interest in Safari to make one for them.

    Yes.
I would assume the SS135MOD could be used on the 2012 Tacoma as well, with some modification perhaps. They also did not produce one for the 4th generation 4Runner. I have seen a few modified to make it work though.

    Yes.
Since the Tacoma did not change greatly in 2012, I would not see a reason that the previously used model (SS135MOD) would not work for them.

EDIT: It does not appear that the fenders have changed for 2012 so it would be same as previous second gen. Tacomas:

So then, help a bother Toyota owner out an email ARB to gain interest in one for the current gen 4Runner's!:D

Simply email Marketing@ARBUSA.com with the subject "New product request".

For the subject express interest in a Safari Snorkel for the 5th Gen 4Runners.

    Thanks for the help!

I know a lot of us would like one for the 4th gen. Ill be test fitting the one for the 2nd gen taco in a week or so and will make my decision.

I don't undertand the lack of interest for the tacoma and 4runner...there are so many here, i would think it to be profitable for them...

It's a lack of interest in the North American market for them. The current gen Tacoma's have been in production for 7 years now and still there isn't enough of a market for Safari to make then says something. Safari is an Australian company that see's the Hilux and the Prado but never that Tacoma or the 4Runner design since they are specific to North America only. Hilux's and Prado's are sold worldwide and there is a considerable market for the Snorkels.

    Yes.
Aware of that. But as I stated, it has been modified to work for the second generation Tacoma. There is no reason that one cannot be modified to work for both the fourth and fifth generation 4Runner.

Yeah, I understand all that...but with 700k+ second gens that are on the road in the US ...and with the strong aftermarket following, it dosent make sense...I'm sure they would turn a profit just working with the forums in general.

This is an easy mod and will work on the 2012, there's a full write up on my site - I pioneered this mod and wrote that install guide on Cruiser Outfitters ;)

I know who you are. ;) I think ForeRunner should edit his post so we don't end up with a bunch of confusion. It's obvious that there is not difference in the 2005-2011 and 2012 install...

I'm not going to edit anything. There are mods to make it work. Since mods have to be done even with 700K Tacoma's on the road and Safari isn't producing a snorkel that DOES NOT require modification says something.

Yeah, "we are not interested in your American shit..." That's what I get out of it. Maybe they will change their minds eventually...

Edit: "North American.." I left out the Canadians...

I've spoken with ARBUSA and they are the main POC for Safari in NA about a snorkel for the 5th gen T4R's and Safari claims there is a significant amount of tooling and machine work to go into mass producing a snorkel for a vehicle. Because of that there isn't enough profit margin to substantiate the work to produce the snorkels for the NA specific vehicles. With "700K" 2005+ Tacoma's on the road in NA how many would purchase a snorkel for a Tacoma? Of the members on TW how many have a snorkel from Safari on their rigs? How many did the last group but net?

    I can understand that.

Im curious...what's the big deal with the 5th gen? Are they that popular? Or is it just because they offer it in the trail edition which is more Arb friendly becuase your average enthuiest would buy that over just an sr5? Sounds like the same case with the thousands and thousands of trd package tacos that are already in operation...

I'm not arguing with you, just trying to share my feelings with safari and Arb on the subject. From where I sit, even if it costs 20k in development for a 2nd gen snorkle...in the grand view of things, they have tons of potential to push the product out there on a market that is constantly hungry for after market products. And not just armor and suspension...an untapped resource. Something no one else makes right now. They would have that part of the market for themselves. If I had the capability, I would already be turning these out like hot cakes.

And there are a lot of guys that have them. I honestly think the fact that you are drilling holes in your body to attach a modified part that is not originaly intended for your truck turns people off. This is a pretty cheap mod considering what most everyone else does to their truck. So I'm sure tons more people would be down to have a custom crafted snorkel not only for insurance against water damage, added performance from RAM air and a cold air charge, the style, look of it, etc...

Out of the millions of cars on the road, how many of them do you see with snorkels? The fact is, the vast majority of people don't need them and the ones that really do need them are resourceful enough to make something work. The Hilux model has been modified to fit so I'm sure that fills the gap as far as Safari is concerned.
