Sat radio

Are all 2011 model tacomas sat ready? I don't have sat radio in 2011 SR5 DC but my radio has the sat button and i was wondering if i could just get the Sirius connect universal tuner and a OEM toyota sat antenna to make it work with my stock radio. Basically i need to know if i need to buy both universal tuner and a interface adapter to get it to work on my stock radio or neither . Has anyone done this with there stock radio ?

 

in my 2010 access cab sr5 i used these parts

also got shark fin adapter to use the roof mounted antannea (not required)

thanks, So i need a adapter for the stock shark fin antannea? it doesnt just plug into the back of the radio ?

 

I'm in the same boat. Stock SR5 DC with the SAT button but no SAT Radio. What would getting into SAT cost me?

 

One side plugs in to the kick panel the other pluges in to sirius tuner.

The amazon complete kit is also available but its about $10 more then buying the tuner and adapter seperately. You will still need the shark fin if you wish to use factory antanna

I went through this last year. You truck is pre wired for xm , the plug is in the driverside kick panel. You can the complete kit from the dealer and it would work through the sat button on the radio. I ended up getting the Sirius receiver through Toyota but he didn't tell me it wasn't compatible with with the stock sat antenna on the roof, the kit came with an antenna. I ended up using the sat antenna wire for a Lexus GS. The ends fit both the receiver and plug under the kick and I have a DC and mounted the receiver under the back seat under the storage bin. It work through the stock head unit. I probably should have just gotten the XM.

 

I read that post before. You don't have remove head unit. The only things your need to remove is the left kick panal and the left sill plate if you decide to mount the receiver under the back seat. ( that is the factory location)

FWIW ... I have Sirius now (had XM before & is pretty much the same) and I always negotiate with them BEFORE each deal expires.

Now, I am on a 6 month deal with them for $20.00. (Have 2 radios at that price now -Tacoma radio & extra Sirius radio in my garage).

You just have to renegotiate your deal each time on each radio BEFORE it expires and goes to the regular rate.

We do the same with our cable internet & TV and save a lot of money there too.

Basically, you stay on the "special trial rate " for cable & satellite radio as long as you keep contacting them BEFORE your rate increases.
