Haha. Thats so I dont flip it on accident.

On my '06... Under the hood on the ABS plug there's a blue wire/yellow stripe. Snip, and feed 12v into the plug side. Cap off the other.

Its a new Epi-thermal laser x-ray radar gun. They are kind of expensive but work well.

In my attempt to look this up I found some interesting info to support what some people are talking about here.

This is from this pdf. lots of boring stuff to read here. http://www-nrd.nhtsa.dot.gov/Pubs/811182.pdf

Fatal run-off-road crashes increase with ABS by a statistically significant 9 percent in
cars (confidence bounds: 3% to 15% increase). The long-term effect is substantially
smaller than in the early years of ABS (28% increase), but it is still a significant increase.
The observed effect in LTVs is a non-significant 6-percent increase (confidence bounds:
    -16% to 3%).
 On wet, snowy, or icy roads, where ABS is most likely to activate, the increase in fatal
run-off-road crashes is a statistically significant 34 percent in passenger cars (confidence
bounds: 20% to 50% increase). On these roads, all three types of fatal run-off-road
crashes increase significantly for cars and so do fatal rollovers of LTVs

I guess I though ABS was standard for many years. But it looks like as of last fall it basically is now.

Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 126 will require all new passenger vehicles to be
equipped with ESC, a remarkably effective crash-avoidance technology, after September 1,
2011. All ESC systems to date and for the foreseeable future incorporate ABS technology. The
ESC standard will apparently soon place ABS on every new car and LTV sold in the United
    States

    And more boring.

With the coordination of NHTSA’s Motor Vehicle Safety Research Advisory Committee,
government, industry, and the safety community discussed possible reasons for the observed
increases in run-off-road crashes. These were the principal hypotheses:
 Driver inexperience/lack of knowledge about ABS. Drivers might remove their foot
from the pedal in response to the [unanticipated] noise and vibration of ABS, or try to
pump the pedal as with conventional brakes.
 A misperception of how much ABS reduces stopping distances or enhances control.
Some drivers may negotiate curves or change lanes more aggressively because they
believe ABS will enable them to stop in a shorter distance or retain control of their
    vehicle in extreme driving maneuvers.
 Longer stopping distances with ABS on the loose surfaces that vehicles encounter after
    they leave the road.
 The enhanced steering control while braking with ABS could allow unsafe panic steering
maneuvers. An inexpert driver in a panic situation might try an abrupt evasive steering
maneuver while slamming on the brakes. Without ABS, the front wheels lock; the car
goes straight ahead, essentially ignoring the steering input. With ABS, the vehicle
responds to the abrupt, instinctive steering input, possibly running off the road and badly
    out of control.
 Possible flaws in the performance of the early ABS technologies in certain maneuvers or
    on some roadway surfaces

I guess if it ever fucks with me in the snow I will probably want a switch also?

Same here, but until then I'll just keep all my fuses and wires intact.
I've been know to fix a few things until it's broke.
AKA: Don't fix something that doesn't need fixing. (as of yet)

I don't know about ATRAC , but VSC makes the same noises and pedal sensation as ABS

Damn, if so Workman only wants a new SR5 Tacoma plain and add lockers as he deems appropriate. That noise going up 4low hills would drive him nutz, and make him think he was lame for hearing it:cool:

    So much truth!

For every three letter abbreviation you add, drivers tend to amp it up.
    +ABS = I AM AWESOME!!!
    +VSC = I KICK ASPHALT!!!!
+AWD = HOW YA LIKE ME NOW!!!!

Then comes the physics lesson and the insurance claim refresher course.

"Enhanced steering control." How can that be bad? I mean, it sounds awesome, right?. Though I'm not sure I even understand the idea of being able to steer while under panic braking. If I'm full of some serious panic, I must be hauling ass. Now that I am braking to the max, I've got a full on weight shift to the nose. Turning in that scenario means I am going to either be a drift mastah or I will take a free ride in the spinny tin, as the ass is coming around, pronto. It's what happens when you load it all up on just one of the four corners.

Now is that what the safety patrol wants people to do? Personally, I think the avg noob is better off to lock em up and keep it in a straight line. You may crumple some stuff front and back, but that's how cars are crashed tested the most. Just seems like a better option than helicoptering across 4 lanes. Unless in the "Oh Shit" chapter it explains that to regain control, one must press the accelerator enough to re-transfer the weight towards the back, but not too much to over do it, all while counter steering, and not too aggressively at that.

Now if you're still with me, think of this scenario. I just locked up my 74 Plymouth - no ABS. The radials are howling. If I paid attention in Drivers Ed, I am working to pump the brake. Either way, I see I am about to hit the car in front. Now it's time for some steering. So I have to release the brake, which will help settle the car, meaning all four treads are weighted more vs just the fronts. Cars steer better in that situation.

No ABS doesn't mean you have become reckless. It just means you're driving the vehicle, not the other way around. Just my 2c.
