I was just home for a week and realized they had all these cameras going up. I remember there being some in AZ but they got them removed for being unconstitutional. There has to be something about probable cause in the state constitution to override these.

Then again anything that gives the state more money is going to be difficult to get rid of.

In Maryland speed cameras are in posted school zones. The cameras are in operation M-F 6:00am to 8:00pm every day of the year. The cameras are for the safety of the school children. However you would be surprised at the number of cameras that are relocated once the revenue drops.

Red light cameras are different and can be anywhere. There are also construction zone speed cameras that can be anywhere. I do not know how the Federal interstate highways are treated with respect to speed cameras. PG County is also unique in that we have two military roads operated by the US Park Service, the B&W PKY and the Suitland PKY.

    Link to legislation.

Your best defense is a redlight camera and speed zone application for your cell phone or GPS. Or simply do the speed limit.

The one on Metzerott Rd. fits none of that criteria...and the multiple cameras on Rt. 1 in College Park...apparently they don't listen to their own rules...

Is it a red light camera or a speed camera.

That sucks. I thought the speed cameras were only in construction and school zones.

I grew up over that way so I know the area you are talking about.

Yea its right by the Archive building or whatever the heavily armored federal building is, the next stop light where the speed limit drops...

My group is building a new hospital in Montgomery County on the Community College campus and apparently there is a well placed speed camera as everyone that has gone to the job site has had at least 1 picture taken...

Speaking of speed cameras, I saw a red Ferrari 458 go screaming through Gaithersburg yesterday. I guess if you can afford that car you can afford a few tickets.

I haven't seen one in person yet...There are a few Ferrari's and at least one well driven Murcielago in HarCo...When I worked at the Bel Air Home Depot a guy parked his Carrera GT (yes a GT, not a regular Porsche)...I stayed outside and drooled all over it as he left (old bastard wouldn't even rev it for us)
