Paul, who would you owe this too? Where did they get the parts from? We can stage a drive in for Saturday if we need....

I think a couple of 20 tacomas driving into a particular place with some artistically drawn signs could sway some peoples decisions.

I actually have a jeep now. Imagine that.
I would owe this to state farm apparently since they are writing the check. However I have a form that I have not signed that says I authorize state farm to pay the repair shop. So at least I have something.

Go to the body shop and ask for receipts proving that the parts were ordered, and if applicable showing that they were returned.

At a BARE minimum, all they could gig you on is the restocking fees. That's BS that they have to keep the parts.

This is a scam for the body shop. They tell state farm parts were ordered, no parts ordered, step 3: profit.

They tried pulling that crap on me when I specifically told the body shop not to order a rear bumper. Guy was like, well we ordered it, you owe for it. I told him, basically, tough, I'm not paying you a dime, you've got nothing in writing that says I authorized anything. I called state farm, told them there was a body shop trying to scam them out of money, and that I never authorized them to purchase the bumper.

I got the heads up on asking to see the paperwork from a friend whose family owns the largest Ferrari, Bentley, Rolls, Lambo, Rover, Mercedes, etc. body shop in the south east. Thankfully State Farm cut me the check for the bumper directly.

Hmm, the guy who might be buying my truck said he saw some parts sitting in its bed...ill stop by on lunch tomorrow. I thought this was weird cause I have a bed cover on it...

My post above didn't make a lot of sense now that I read it again.

Here's what my buddy described to me:
Body shop claims to order parts, files claim with state farm.
You don't authorize repairs (nothing has been ordered, in reality)
Body shop says "But we've ordered parts, we'll have to pay restocking fees."
They haven't ordered jack, have no restocking fees, and are basically trying to skim.

That's what my buddy was talking about in asking to see the paperwork. Not saying that's what they're trying to do, but keep an eye out.

Hey Xodeuce, what size CB drop do you have? The one Justin gave me is 1/4" thick. I may just add washers to it, to make it drop down further.

If yours is bigger then Justin's, bring it to the meet, please sir!

I've got the same CB drop he has, 1/4". I ended up doing axle shims to fix my issues. I think they were 3* maybe?

<I had to try really hard to keep this from being sig material>

Do the guys running the 4.5" lift typically solve vibes with a CB drop or shims?

The guys a Bill Penney told me earlier this week that the angled shims would work better than a CB drop. Yes, I talked about your truck with the techs that gathered around my truck.

I have a set of axle shims sitting in my closet. The reason i didn't install them is because i currently have a 2" block in the rear and it just didn't feel stable with shims on top of blocks.

And why the hell does everything i say sound so damn dirty lately? :goingcrazy:

Alright.. We'll have you home in plenty of time! LOL!

Yeah dave.. I'd be leery also.. I read it first and thought they meant angled shims in the cb drop and was thinking that wouldn't work better but i wasn't sure..

I've always wondered why they don't just cut an angle into the bottom of the block.

There is an angle in the block. It made my rear end point directly at my transmission. The only reason that both drive shafts are not perfectly even all the way up is because on the CB.

Paul, sitting at Toyota and started talking to the parts guys and the words "backyard total" and skim restock fees came up from the parts guy. You know those guys have a dealership in TN. They said if you didn't sign anything, you can't be liable. Do you sign anything when they carried your truck there at the beginning? They also said their normal restock fee is 20%.
