I'm going to bringing in my truck soon for the frame recall and I'm 99% sure it's going to fail, so I was wondering how much everyone got from Toyota so I can see what I'll be expecting. I know it's 150% of bb but others said they got more so just curious.

    Please post...
    month/year it was bought back
    amount you got
year, engine, cab style, trd or non trd, and mileage of truck

So no one else did the buy back, come on I'd really like to know if it's even worth my while before I start taking all my stuff off my truck.

150% over KBB is well worth doing. I had a 1999 with 249K on the clock. Toyota paid me a little over 12K for it a year and a half ago. Basically paid me a 1K less than I paid for it 5 years before, and I put 160K on it. It allowed me to pay cash for my 2004 taco. It was a 99, 2.7l TRD 4x4/ manual transmission.

Apparently after my discussion with a Toyota rep the other day, the buy backs on the 2001-2004 "recall" is not in effect. He chalked it up to the fact that they could not get the frames for the older models but they are available for the newer yrs...Kinda bummed as i would have taken it if offered.

It is 100% worth it (Actually 150% worth it :D). You'll get way more than if you ever go to sell your truck. They give you 150% the "retail" (I think it is) price, or whatever the highest one is. Plus you get to keep whatever you want off the truck... I think it just has to drive into the dealer. Plus I remember reading somewhere that you get some pretty big rebates if you put that money towards another Toyota.

So, am I correct in assuming that since I went in for the recall and they sprayed that stuff on my frame, that my truck isn't eligible for the buy back?

Yours wouldn't get bought back, it would get a new frame. But yes it is still warrantied. The treatment was a precautionary measure but if the frame rusts through you will still be able to take it in and get a new frame.

The buyback only applies to pre-01 Tacomas. Those frames are no longer available and Toyota decided it would be more practical to just buy those trucks back rather than get Dana corp to start manufacturing the frames again.

Thanks everyone. I wanted to know because I was hoping to get a double cab and where I'm from these trucks are pricey and hard to come buy, basically you add like $3,000 to blue book and thats what they go for.

Does anyone know if they pay for things like a topper and bedliner? If I get a dc I wouldn't need these but then maybe I could trade these for dc topper and bedliner I don't know.

March of 2010 I received a check for $11,970.00 for my 99 xtended cab 4x4 taco with 3.4 v6 5speed. It had 187K on the ODO.
Miss it to this day but it was too good a deal to pass up.
