stock dunlap tires suck

well, i recevied a customer satisfaction survey via email that i've filled out. we'll see if anyone listens. here is my report:

the dunlap tires that came stock in New Mexico on the vehicle were terrible on snow/ice/slush. i just had the michelin M/S2's installed at 5000 miles on truck after the first week of winter weather. UNBELIEVEABLE improvement over the stock dunlaps on snowpacked city streets and wet/slushy/icy pavement. my anti-lock breaks were kicking in constantly with the dunlaps- i was afraid i was going to slide into the rear end of another vehicle if i wasn't VERY careful. i was so disappointed with the winter driving performance that i was regretting buying the tacoma. after installing the michelins i realized that it was the tires that were the problem, not the truck itself. it was a night and day difference. in my opinion, they shouldn't even be selling the tacomas with the stock dunlap tires in regions that have winter driving conditions.

 

Uh...it's dunlop, not dunlap.

meh. im sure there are some people that are really happy with those tires. other wise they wouldnt sell them. they just arent the tires for you. but i certainly would not not buy a truck because of the tires

 

The Dunlops are total garbage in snow , shitty 3/8" deep tread packs with snow and won't clear , might as well be on slicks

 

I got stuck on my mother-in-law's driveway , they were off the truck the next week .

 

My truck came with Rugged Fails and guess what? They sucked! Toyota should consider using the Rugged Terrains instead... My Trials were shot at 30k Like you said I spent a good amount of money on a truck and all I get is shit tires?

 

the majority of tacoma owners use their trucks as a DD so toyota isn't gonna put nitto mud grapplers on all their trucks...the dunlop AT20 is a decent street tire

No one is asking for Mud Grapplers, just something that has modestly acceptable performance in rain and snow. The Dunlops are useless and borderline dangerous on anything other than dry pavement. I pushed mine to 60k (km) to save a buck and shouldn't have.

the mud grapplers reference was sarcasm, dunlops aren't terrible, i'll admit they're not the best, but they're far from "borderline dangerous"

of course it'd be better if toyota made BFG AT KO's their stock tire, but again, thats most likely more money than they're willing to spend on a truck that largely sees pavement

 

nope! maybe once every two years, the "snow hazard" that dunlops apparently pose to tacoma drivers still isn't a large enough percentage for toyota to change their entire line's factory equipped tire
