24-105 is a great all around lens. Kind of the best of both worlds most of the time. If I was going to get a shorter zoom, I would recommend the 16-35 and I'd still get the 70-200 f/2.8. The new mkII is supposed to be the bee's knees.

Just curious ... does anyone know anything about the new Nikon D800, 36 M/P ?

And when a new model first comes out ... is it better to wait for the bugs to be worked out before buying one (more concerned about mechanical than software in new model)?

It's been a long time since I have had a really good camera (last was my Nikon F-3 HP) and I want to get one more good camera to last me.

You guys are very knowledgeable on gear and good photographers and I value your opinions ... :D
BTW, in your various opinions, which Nikon has the most bang for the buck ?

Oh, what is the lowest model in the Nikon line with a good strong metal body ?

Thanks ... any and all info is appreciated ... :D

Try looking at www.nikonusa.com and go from there... the website has all of its current models and you can compare them and see what model is your best match for your needs!

Yeah I'm excited about spring sports. I used to play baseball so I can relate to it. And softball as well, the high school I shoot one the softball state championship last year and will be just as good this year.

lol I'm the only person in the photo department that likes baseball, so I'll be covering pretty much all of the games.

what I really want to shoot is track and field

I actually got a request from a parent to come shoot some golf, and she'd buy a bunch of pictures she said.

I bet it will be a lot of fun. Track and field would be sick as well! All the running and jumping and what not.

I hope so. I think it will be badass. Shooting golf is where I would wish I had about a 400mm :(
