Billie 5100 and tire sizes

Ok, I've read everything I can find about the 5100s which are sitting in a box in my garage. I'd like to know what the biggest tire I can run if they are set at .85, 1.75, or 2.5. I have a 06 dc trd 4x4 with a shell on the bed and I want to go with bigger bfg a/t but I hate rubbing and I do spend time off road. I could run spacers if necessary but I'm not clear on if that allows for a bigger tire. Any help is greatly appreciated.

 

265/75/16 set at .85 or 1.75"

2.5" you can run a 285/75/16 with some trimming

 

oh and if you wanna run 285s then you will need wheel spacers of at least 1.25". Spidertrax is preferred around here. You won't need spacers if you have after market wheels with 4-4.5" Backspacing. Reason being is that you'll rub on your uca with stock wheels. Trimming in the wheel wells is necessary and your cab mount will need to be chopped in some cases cause they'll rub at full lock in some cases...that's with 285s mind you.

 

Thanks for the good info! I should have mentioned its the trd sport with17s. I just read a thread that says to go 265/70 r17. So to help me clarify, at .85 or 1.75 I don't get any tire size advantage over no lift? Why do people prefer these settings then? It seems like all you get is less down travel. Thanks again for helping. I also don't mind doing some trimming inside the fender but I don't know what the cab mount is. Sorry, noob question I'm sure.

 

They prefer those settings because they level the truck .85 at stock in the rear and 1.75 with the TSB 4 leaf pack.

 

Gotcha, thanks. Will I be able to run 285/75r17 at 2.5? Not sure if wheel size will make a difference.

 

You'll probably still have to do some trimming. Keep in mind, you'll be nose high at 2.5" without doing anything to the rear. Don't know what your full plans are.

 

On a stock wheel you'll have a lot of trimming/chopping to do. If you get a wheel with good backspacing you'll still need trimming just not as much. And yea, as above said, at 2.5" you'll be nose high.

 

I just picked my Billys up. I'm running a 16x8 wheel with 255 70 16 A/T. If i set my new billys at .85 with the stock springs will i get the front level?? My truck is a 2wd prerunner v6 acc cab. Also i'm not adding a leaf yet so what should i do in the rear?

 

Yes, you'll be level at .85". You don't have to do anything to the rear. When you do add a leaf you'll have to go up to 1.75 to stay level or you'll be back to almost factory rake. But for now .85 is level, anything more with nothing in the back will make you nose high.

 

Can I run 265/75 r17 at no lift ( I.e. retain all my travel) with minor trimming? I like to take my bumps at high speed.

 

Search "265/75/17" and see what other people's experience has been. I'd like to say yes, that would probably work, but I'd just be going off of what I've read from others. I don't run that size tire so I can't say for sure. Make sure you click the box that says "search titles only" and it'll be easier to find what you're looking for.

 

265/70r17 and 265/75r16 are about the same diameter. I don't think there are many 265/75r17 tires out there (if any).

 

i am getting ready to get a set of billies as well. i wanna do 2.5 in the fronts w/ aal rear, but i don't know what height. i want more of a lift and less of a level without going nose high. any suggestions?

I'm going to be putting on my billy 5100s in the front with a 2" AAL in the rear. I'm gonna go with the wheelers offroad 16x8 type B steel wheel so I don't have to run spacers. I want to run duratrac 285s/33"s. From what I'm reading I'll have to do some minor trimming. Am I right? I'm not gonna be doing any offroading with it so I'm not worried about major bumps.
