Yeah, I know. I have a few padlocks on things, and after seeing a few videos of that trick it made me think about alternatives. Not sure what else there is either. :notsure: I just don't like the idea of having a lock any idiot could open with a can picked out of the trash and a pair of scissors. Lock pick sets are a little harder to come by, and take a little more talent I think. Bolt cutters are harder to conceal and don't always work on them, but I have scissors on my multitool I carry every day. :D So anyone with one of those, and a discarded can has the tools needed to pop a padlock.

Did the LED cupholder/front cubbie/rear floor light mod. Wired in a 3.5 mm and micro USB cables for the worthless cupholder behind the shifter (might as well use that space to store my phone). Rigged up IR repeater to the blank square next to the cigarette lighter, and ran it back to my console where I installed my Zune dock. Now I can run the Zune off of my remote, without anything exposed. I use my Zune 120's Video out, and I can see all of the onscreen info on my Kenwood Dnx-6980. I bought the ipod interface cable, but the menu was horrible, and besides, I know that Zune isn't popular, and the franchise is dead, but it beats the hell out of ipod any day of the week.
I also tapped power off of my stock inverter, and did the power anytime mod.
I ran a 3.5 mm headphone extension cable through my passenger seat, under the carpet, and beneath the rear seat. Now I can plug in the headphones on my 5 year old son's dvd player, and there's minimum cords laying around for him to wrap his feet up on (which he does every time he gets out of my truck).
I had the 110 outlet, USB splitter, and a bunch of other shit on the bottom of my console, so I built a false bottom by gluing the console carpet to some cardboard, and superglueing some of my son's old Duplo blocks to the bottom of the console for support. I then placed the carpet/cardboard on top of the duplo blocks, and everything's hidden.
I was up until 4:30 this morning doing this crap. I still haven't been outside yet to clean up the tools on my floor boards.

That doesn't work so well on newer locks... :anonymous: The ones with the extra bar in the latch that has to be pushed in at the same time, or the door jam that wraps around the door. I haven't been able to get it to work in years. :spy:

On the other hand, it looks like the can trick would work on almost any padlock.

No. lol I've just had to get locks off or open when I didn't have a key. lol Locked out of the house, or the padlocks the bank left on my barn. Still have 1 to take off eventually, but the first one I just took a torch to when my bolt cutters didn't work.

Sometimes a little hip-check to the door helps. It depends on the striker and such. I guess if it was that much trouble and you really wanted to get in a boot could do it too!:D

Must be a hell of a lock - I've cut 100's with bolt cutters. If the 2 footers don't work I get the 3 footers. Hope U R in better shape with the bank and the barn.

I did that once with our outside door... :anonymous: But I hate having to fix the door afterward. :frusty:

Oh, it was when we bought the house. They didn't give us a key to the padlocks on the barn, or the outside door on the house. Locked it by accident one day before I replaced the lock and had to kick it in. For the barn I cut the main lock off the day we moved in. The 2ft cutters didn't work, and I don't have 3ft ones. The oxygen torch seemed like something I'd use more often so I bought one of those to get the lock off.
