Ok so a cop walks up and says "did the lifeguard give you permission to throw that ball?"......and you say "yes".....he just walks away?

Either way, that's not the point. The point is that this "law" is freaking stupid. :p

    LOL

I seriously doubt the cops have the time to go looking for frisbee throwers on their own. I'm sure it will be the lifeguard requesting assistance. This sort of thing is no different than the ski resorts in Colorado which will strip a pass from someone who doesn't heed ski patrol warnings to slow down on green runs. These issues are matters of courtesy. And when people forget what it means to be courteous, this sometimes is what you get. If it was an all out ban, I'd understand the howls. But it's not.

In my life I've been in CA about a total of three years. This time since July. I honestly can't wait to get out of this state and first chance I get to leave permanently I'm out.

There are good people here I've met but all in all I can't stand it here. To many laws that nanny us yet lane splitting is still legal...

It's a nice looking state in a lot of areas but... I'm not stayin.

I had to chime in one last time about the whole gun thing because of this article I came across.

People keep referring to all these laws that have such a tight grip on our society, yet I have never even had a run in with a police officer. I rarely see any of these "communist laws" put into effect in everyday life.

Maybe it's because I have no desire to carry around a weapon that can kill someone?

I was under the impression that our state was less of a iron curtain police state due to the fact that:
1)gay people can get married here
    2) You can buy weed at stores
    hmmmmmmmmmm.

I guess you only have a problem with it if the laws DON'T benefit you.

Oh and as far as firearm deaths are concerned, California only had 9 per 100,000:eek: (http://www.thedailybeast.com/articl...t-gun-states-from-mississippi-to-arizona.html) That's #40 out of 50.

I guess less gun laws = more deaths = less people is better?

... i don't believe anyone is forcing you to... you have the choice... ;)

john lott has a book that dispells the myths that armed citizenry leads to more "crime"/etc... if you look at the states w/ liberalized gun laws (liberalized meaning; little infringement), you'll see they have much lower violent crime rates... BTW, violent crime, nationwide, is on the decline (FBI stats), ...just as gun ownership and carry is on the rise (NICS reports),... hmmm...

    1. On a daily basis, how many/which nanny laws affect you directly? I acknowledge that the state legislature is very capable of coming up with these stupid things quite often when I think they should be spending their time, and my money, more wisely (as I am sure happens in many other states), but how many actually impair the way you want to live?

    2. If you were born and raised here, you would likely have developed a different outlook, as does most anyone wherever they may grow up.

You can't look at one statistic and make valid conclusions about cause and effect, although that is often the simplistic approach used by populist demagogues and politicians to dupe a gullible public, who for the most part lacks critical thinking skills and respond with emotion. Many sociological and demographic factors contribute to crime rate.

Now pardon me while I go clean my thottle body and rotate my tires.

...it takes "two" to tango right?...

actually i agree w/ you about the "root causes" of crime/violent crime.. you're right that statistics are thrown around by all sides, and it is neverending... the problem is that oftentimes statistics, along w/ myopic manipulations of the data, is the only tangible tool available to bolster a point... until we have a time machine, ..we'll have statistics/data/debate. ;)

Right. Those gang infested neighborhoods throughout California are just so safe. Ignore the bullet holes in your house and bodies in the streets. Come on, man. California is obviously rigging the numbers by not providing statistics for larger cities.

    Take self defense classes.

But what if he has a gun? Then I need a bigger gun!

Good luck with being able to carry a concealed/open gun in California. It will most likely NEVER happen. The majority is too opposed. Keep listening to Rush Limbaugh and in the mean time, Feel free to move to Wyoming, or Kentucky where having guns is awesome!

There is soooooo many (says the guy from Alabama? That's credible). Lived here my whole life, been to Oakland/ Richmond many times, never seen a single "bullet hole".

What's the point if it can't be loaded? Also I haven't read back much yet but how the hell do we go from no football on the beach to a discussion about guns.

how's the view from under the sand? [IMG]
...you've just been "lucky", "good", or live in a gated community w/ private security...

as i said before, kalifornia will be forced into a showdown w/ the courts, because of the most recent ban on "unloaded" (for crying out loud) handgun carry... you can't ban the right to "bear", and still be part of the USA.. there's the pesky thing called the 14th amendment, along w/ the 2nd amendment, and the Heller and McDonald decisions.... so, better read up on it, ..your utopia is far from reality... Cool man, you win. When they force California to allow concealed/open loaded guns, all the crime and death will disappear. Our debt will be solved, and no one will be poor!

A true utopia it will be!!! I can't wait. Maybe I will get a glock.....

Ps. Thanks for the negative rep for having my own opinion from whoever was too chicken shit to leave a name  Don't think it was Wiley C, because he can articulate his words into a clear and well backed up argument and probably wouldn't resort to such childish games.- +rep for you wiley

It is the population that causes these laws to be passed. The lawmakers are voted into office by the population and the population has the right to agree or disagree with laws and keep them from being passed or help get one passed.
That's my favorite way to pick up girls at a beach. They are usually down for some 2 hand tag after they are finished with their tanning sessions.

By the way guy's I'm not trying to shit on Cali here, it's just that I don't agree with most of what they do and I will visit one day. I just chose to call South Carolina my home for the rest of my life.
