On headlights that use 2 separate high and low beams, how should the metal strip running down the side of the bulb be position for the low beams Hids?

How should the strip be for the high beams Hids?

All 4 bulbs are exactly the same.

Also, shouldn't the high beams be on the outside edge and low beams be the closer to the grill?

High low beam HID is not function like what you think, it have a magnetic inside the bulb, when you want high beam, it will power up the magnetic to pull the bulb in to make it high beam.

So you are talking about a vehicle that's not a Tacoma right? Because tacomas do not use two separate high and low beams, as you stated in your first sentence.

And the metal housings the bulbs fit into should always be covering the lower side of the bulb.

    This

The glare shield stops light from bouncing off the bottom of the reflector housing and upwards into oncoming traffic.
Then when you engage the high beam, the bulb moves back and tilts to shoot light farther than the low option

If i am envisioning this correctly, that's just part of the coil that helps power the lighting arc. It's orientation has no impact in light pattern. A picture of what you are talking about would really help.

Not sure about those lights, but as posted above, the bulb base should only go in one way. Also I'm "guessing" the projector is you low beam, and the other reflector is your high beams. Hope this helps.

So this kit has a separate bulb for low and high, and BOTH are hid? That seems pretty silly since you would want the highs to not have any warm up time (hence why the hids with hi/low use the exact same bulb just angled differently, so it doesn't need to warm up again). If I had two separate bulbs I'd run hid low, halogen highs.

That's what they look like, see link posted. Not sure though. I understand about warm up time, but, in my wifes car, I swapped hers right the opposite, halogen low, HID high, and they have a awesome high beam.

And its really hard on xenon bulbs (AND ignighters AND ballasts) to flick them on and off frequently.

To the OP, I dont see where there are 2 bulbs in that housing. Looks like one projector-ish and one LED halo. Regardless, proper HID bulbs are always on at the same brightness. The shield is just moved out of the way during "high beam" to allow the full light to shine down the road.

Looks like two bulbs to me, LEDs across the bottom, halo around the high beam reflector. Again I've yet to have a problem switching HIDs off and on, on my wifes car, maybe just lucky, but they've been in for over two years.

Could be 2, I cant really see the bottom corner. I dont know how those would work.
Switching them on and off isnt a problem. Its quickly flicking them on and off (like you would do with normal halogen highbeams) HIDS need to warm up at the start, and cool properly before getting hot again. Like posted earlier, with real HID setups, the bulb is always at its brightest and a shield is moved to make a "high beam". So no extra wear on the bulb itself.

Some single xenon lights, like from an Acura TSX, are "low beam" only (always shielded) The high beams are handled with a halogen that illuminates seperate from the HID.

Oh, I'm not arguing per say, just looks like your basic H4 bulb down there to me, (again, I'm not up on these lights). Yeah, also on the shield, I have MiniMoro projectors. My wife's Accord is a four bulb setup, and so far, no problems with the cheap HIDs I installed in the high beam relectors.

I would like to thank everyone that responded to my thread.

I got the lights installed late last night. For future reference by anyone reading this. The lights I bought have twin bulbs. The projector part is for the low beams.

Both bulbs are the same, so technical you could put HID in for both bulbs but, everyone is correct about the slow warm up time. When the HID turn on, it takes about 3 to 5 seconds to warm up.

Also the wiring kit with these bulbs let the low beam bulbs burn when the high beams are on at the same time.

The install of the new buckets and HIDs wasn't as bad as I thought and it took about 3 hours to complete.
