DC Sub Box

Finished it this past week. I know there are several how to's but wanted to post this for my reference if for no one else's. Made with 3/4 in MDF and fits the Alpine 1043D which has a mounting depth of 4.25 in.

No cutting inside the truck was done. I fits between the floor board and the child restraint hooks so the truck can be put back to stock at a later time.

I will finish out the back with "Peel and Seal" from Lowes (like Dynamat but cheaper) and carpeting to the top.

looks good....any idea how it sounds? what is the internal volume space??

 

Honestly, I haven't hooked up the sub yet. It is a budget build, and I am still waiting to purchase an amp. As for internal volume, we were shooting for .65 cubic yards, but because of the mounting depth of the sub, we think we ended up shy of that. Basically, it runs the width of the cab and vertically as tall as the child restraint bracket.

 

do you mean cubic feet ? or cubic yards ? most boxes i have seen are measured in feet. just wondering

Does this fit a DC or extended cab ?

Judging by the notch for the rear seat bracket in the box I'm gonna assume it's for a DC

 

By using a box calculator, it looks to be right around .633 ft^3.

 

appreciate that i thought yards seemed to be a little big haha. Are there any boxes that can be installed without removing the rear plastic storage bins ? Im looking for a sub and box that can match my 600 monoblock amp without destroying the storage

Thanks. Yep, just looked at alpine website... .65 cubic feet was our goal.

For a double cab. I have built a few boxes in the past, hope this one sounds alright as well. I still have to add some silicone to the front face prior to mounting the sub as is was the last piece dropped in.

I am pretty particular about keeping things clean so I didn't want to cut on anything. I plan to finish the rear of the cab with carpet to make it uniform.

I'll try to get some pics of it in the truck tonight.

Alright, Sorry for the delay, I work too much. Had a four day so took to time to install the Rockford Fosgate components and snapped a pic of the sub (still not wired for sound). The mat you see is actaully Peal and Seal from Lowes, a roofing material. I dynamat'ed (well, fatmat'ed) my 350z a few years back and it seems to be almost the exact same stuff. It cost me about $16 to do both doors. I will eventually do the rear of the truck where the sub box is. The speaker panel is 3/4 MDF sprayed with the ever important Plasti-Dip. Sounds fine, needs more juice from an aftermarket head unit, sometime in the future. P.S. blacken the surround for the tweeters as well, in direct light you can see the plywood. Pics below.
