That is so cool! I gotta try this out. Sounds relatively simple. And such an awesome idea! Who figures this shit out?

ive read about this mod for the past couple of years...never had any urge to do it...

then saw this thread bumped this evening and went out and did it...got a wild hair i guess

pretty easy and simple...took more time for me to find my tools and wire and crap than it did to actually do the mod...i didnt drive my truck after, however i did crank it and engage the locker in 2wd and 4hi

    nice :D

Not to be an asshole or anything.... but the whole point of the grey wire mod is to be able to use the locker in 2WD as well as 4HI/4LO. So since TRD toyotas are the only ones to come with factory lockers it only works with them... If you're talking about getting an aftermarket locker on an SR5 tacoma then I can understand the point of your question.

So does the light stay on at all times or not?

Also, if the button is accidentally pressed going at higher speeds then recommended, what will happen?

the light will stay on when the locker is engaged, and if the button is accidently hit....chances are it wont go into gear. but if it happens....stop the truck and make sure to be on the safe side.

nothin will happen. The 5MPH safety is still in effect so it will blink. and will not engage untill you slow down below 5mph.... ;)

theres no actual "safety" persay that i know of...its just really NOT recommended that you try to engage it going faster than that as you could seriously FUBAR your gears etc
