Alright guys I have a 2011 tacoma 4 door with an upgraded jbl audio system. I'm perfectly content with my speakers however i need a better sub. I either wanna do 2 10's or 1 12". Can anyone help me figure out what to buy? I have no clue how/where to set them up. I'm thinking under the back seats are the best way to go. Between the amp and the subs i really don't want to spend anything more than 2-300.

    thanks guys, your the best!

under the back seat you will not get a 10 or 12. An 8 at the max and thats iffy on some of them.

2 to 300 is tough for 2 subs box amp and wiring.... you could probably do like kicker comps 10 for like 90 a pair right now at best buy and you would probably want the kicker dx500.1 which is 250 i believe...the dx250.1 might work but it is 150 and the box is gonna range from 100-200 maybe

do one 12” BEHIND the back seat it will be allot easier (they sell boxes that fit) under the seat you are going to have to have a custom box. maybe look at the kicker hidaway. those are my plains. on my ’07 4door. i really don’t think you can even get an 8” under the back seats.

also. the sup is going to have to be a shallow mount. witch i don’t think their is a hole lot of shallow mounts out their.

here is a kicker hid away. http://www.kicker.com/Hideaway

i like that kicker alot. and after looking at prices and whats available i think i have no choice but to spend some extra money.

If i put it behind my back seats i have a speaker which i assume is also a kicker built in the back.

    heres the pic: http://imgur.com/tL5IE

Now would i build the box into that? Or does that panel pop out?

idk what that is i don’t have it. but that hole in tier black pice should unscrew and pop out. i plain on putting it on other other side.

i like that kicker hidaway and i don’t think you even need an amp for it it has one built in. i just wish i new what it sounded like i could not find a video on you tube. but i’m sure it sounds really good for what it is. and yeah idk what you could get for 2-300 maybe used stuff.

Yeah im really curious to see how the hidaway sounds. Im sure its clean but i wanna see how much thump it puts out.

i just found this bad boy on JL audio:
    http://www.jlaudio.com/sb-t-tacdc-10w1v2-car-audio-stealthbox-94312

the only thing is it says it requires permanent modification of the plastic trim panels behind the seat. Im financing my truck still so idk. But it looks pretty clean, Im kind of hoping to find something similar with 1 12".

Does anyone know any other companies aside from JL that made car/truck specific boxes?

yeah thats what i want to know to. my friend has 2 12” in his FJC and on some songs turned up it’s to much for me. i like it. but not want i want right now. most i would do is 1 12”

my guess is the hidaway is prob about like one 10” or maybe 1 12”

look at ********* (seams like allot of people on here don’t like them) but they have boxes and full set ups for are trucks. for subs and door speakers and all the audio for are trucks.

That's the stock 8inch JBL sub.. its gotta come out and I'm pretty sure from the looks of mine you will have to cut it out or take the entire plastics out.

I'd shelve the idea till you can have the heart to cut your rear plastic and up your budget significantly. Here is what I did... cut out BOTH bins and kept border trim... installed 2 10" subs. They BARELY fit in the box... a non shallow 12" is not going to fit and allow you to flip down the seat. Permanatly removed the seat backs to make room. 500W and 2 10" subs have to be SHOEHORNED to fit.

Even the single bin ********* boxes require cutting the back of at least one bin out. I am also still paying for my truck... what does that have to do with your decision? No dealer is gonna look behind the rear seat or care about the rear bin if you trade in. Insurance wont care if you total your truck. So what is the hold up if its not a lease?

I guess you make a good point. I think I'm more scared to fuck it up. So lets say i cut out the bins and make room. Would you say 2 10"s or 1 12" would be the way to go?

also does any one know about the jbl ms8 processor thing? my boss recommended it to me. it latches on to your wires and tunes/equalizes everything. It kills all the stock settings. According to my boss it made a night and day difference on his system.

the baller in me wants to buy this:
    http://www.crutchfield.com/g_530/Vehicle-specific-Enclosures-with-Subs.html

the jew in me wants to buy this:
    http://www.crutchfield.com/p_158GT121LS/Sony-Xpl-d-trade-XS-GTX121LS.html?tp=112

i know the first one is legit, can anyone tell me if the second link sub/box is any good?

It was very important for me to have fold down seats so I could show off my system... once I showed like 10 people I didn't fold the seat down for like a year lol. I dont even have seat backs to make room for the subs so I cant use them for moving things anyway. I gave up running a ported 12 over an ability I never use (folding seat). Id do a ported 12 if I was doing it all over. You will also want to cut out the silly child seat anchor bar... takes up a huge amount of room and mine only had attachment by half the welds. Bolt the box through the floor and add anchors on the box if you need anchors for a child seat.

Just remove the bins all together u don't have to cut the bins and if u drill the spot welds out on the anchors u can bolt them back in at a later date I got my bins and anchors in my attic if I decide I wanna return to stock I made my box and amp rack I need to update my pics since I changed it a Lil but I got 2 tens in mine

My set up is pretty much the same as the one on my profile I just redesigned the amp rack and made the box a tad bit bigger than I should have but if u are asking bout the spot welds then I'm sorry I can't really show that everything is bolted down in my truck now and yes I can fold my seats down

I think the hideaway can be put behind the rear drivers side seat without cutting or modifying anything if my measurements are right. It will fit in the little tray on its side i believe.

People have fit 10's and 12's under the rear seats of the Tacoma's but the problem with that is that you have to glass a box into the compartments and for all intents and purposes it's non-reversible. I've dug up a few pics of ItalynStaylion's 6'' subs that he installed but you can pm him for more.
    TacomaInstall010_b66df931f62beccba5e6787b2537e87844dc8dcc.jpg

    EDIT:
I looked at this and fyi your amp has 2 output channels to add for flexibility in the wiring. They are the same channels just split in two. It allows for a lower final ohm load so that you can wire it up a little differently if needed.

OP Are you trying to put it under the seat for any particular reason? You can buy or build a box that will fit decent 10's that will go behind the rear seats. If I had a 2nd gen DC I'd save up a little more money and go with a supercrewsound.com box and 2 JL Audio w3v3-2 on a Kicker DC1000.1 for full power or JL Audio W3v3-4 Kenwood KAC8105D for half power, but it still sounds good and knocks hard I know this for a fact. With this set-up your looking at around $500 with the Kenwood and around 6-700 with the Kicker.
http://www.supercrewsound.com/05tacomadbldual.html be sure that if you get this and decide to go with JL to get the extra mounting depth for $15 you must have it for them to fit.
    http://www.crutchfield.com/p_13610W3V32/JL-Audio-10W3v3-2.html?tp=111&nvpair=FFBrand|JL+Audio
    Kenwood:http://www.crutchfield.com/p_113KAC8105/Kenwood-KAC-8105D.html?search=Kenwood+KAC8105D
    Kicker: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_20610DX1K1/Kicker-10DX1000-1.html?search=Kicker_1000.1&skipvs=T

Now with that being said you can find a good setup that will knock for a little less, just IMO JL is the best and that's why I would have that.
