Looking for information on custom headlights...need help!

I'm interested in installing custom headlights on my Tacoma that are brighter and look better than the stock ones. I'm mostly looking for something that's brighter, but I'm not sure where I should look or for what. I've read some things about CCFL (whatever that is) and LED and halo lighting, but don't know what's best. Any opinions or direction for where to read up on this stuff?

HID Kit from www.ddmtuning.com. They offer a lifetime warranty on bulbs and ballasts which is hard to beat. And their prices aren't too bad.....cost you around $50-$55 that includes bulbs,ballasts and wiring hardware. I got the 6000K brightness for a truck and it's amazing how much better you can see at night with these headlights! I just got a new Tacoma and haven't put them on it yet, but its a good possibility it will have them in the future. Hope this helps!

 

Sticking HID bulbs into the stock reflector bowl isn't cutting it. I've seen so many vehicles in my area do this and it drives me nuts.

If you order from ddm tuning, at least get some projectors from trs so you don't blind the fuck out of everyone.

Edit: also, 6000K isn't the brightness, its the temperature, or color. And as you go higher in temp you actually lose visibility. 6000K isn't too bad but I wouldn't go any higher than that. I have 4300K and its pure white.

 

This. Put in projectors or don't do it because putting hid bulbs in a halogen's place causes a lot of blinding glare. Which doesn't bother the driver, in fact its better for the people in the car, but the receiving end is being blinded and if you get in a wreck no matter who's at fault you could be sued and held responsible for it by having unprojected hid bulbs. There are better halogens than others from what I hear but search for that info.

tbturner47 is right getting the projectors. I haven't purchased any for a high/low bulb combo only separate bulbs. And for the color you have a wide variety to choose from but I agree don't go any higher than 6000k, I liked them b/c they had a small tint of blue in them. My wife likes the 5000k which is white
