The Phoenix situation has to be settled this year .

 

I'm trying to find the article from yahoo that names Seattle as the front runner. We have an arena in place, Key arena where the Sonics played up until a few years ago. They could play in that while the new arena is being built. The deal for the new arena is suppose to be signed sometime in the next few weeks.

Article basically said the scramble in Seattle is on and if a deal is signed soon, NBA and NHL will be on it's way.

 

As far as I know, there are no plans to build an arena in Quebec. There was a lot of talk....

yeah, $400 million in tax payers money. Sounds unrealistic to me. Quebec must think they are the Greece of Canada...

the quebec provincial government agreed to pitch 200 or 250 million, the provincial government and potential ownership group expected the federal government to pay the rest. so basically 100% paid by the feds considering quebec gets over 7 billion a year in "equalization payments".

i agree with the sentiment completely. I would love to see all of the failing u.s. teams move north. To make it happen, some rich fucker needs to build an arena, and buy a team from Bettman. Just like Chipman and Thompson did in winnipeg. I disagree with using public money though. These fuckers already get tons of tax breaks for their arenas...

 

I'd rather have a couple more teams in Canada than those fucking jets they are pissing our money away on
