I'm not "that guy", nor will I argue. I base my statements on first hand experience with CF, in military and police fitness programs for functional strength. My dad has been doing it regularly for 8 years, he's 59. Has better scores and health stats on his flight physicals then any other air traffic controller at his facility.

If you don't like it, don't do it. No reason to diss me for bringing it up. We all have our own measurements of fitness.

I don't have an actual issue with crossfit just the people that act like that. I've had the same type of things happen with trainers, kids at GNC, and high school football coaches. I appreciate the crossfit style of training. Its pretty intense. Just seems to me that most of the people I meet around here have an attitude about it.

I trained a group of high school kids this summer including my younger brother. These kids were juniors and seniors in high school and literally did not know how to do anything in the weight room correctly. Spent the first month teaching technique with no weight!!

This group of kids made pretty awesome gains in 3 months. Several of them chopped a few tenths of a second off their 40 and pro agility times.

When they started two a days I was talking to their "strength coach" and asked how those kids were doing and if he noticed any differences from spring camp before summer in how they were moving/looking. He told me "Well ya know you just cant train speed. Kids either got it or they don't and the only way anybody does get faster is by putting the pads on.":smack:

I looked him in the eyes and asked if he was serious? Then walked away before I let myself say anything else.

So no its not just crossfit related there is ignorant people everywhere:(

Exactly. This guy is for lack of a better word a Tard.

I guess when you are over 40 and still just an assistant football coach at a 1A high school you cant be great at what you do:D

My brothers offseason program this year has consisted of bench press 3 times a week, 1 squat workout, and one cleans.

Except this coach thinks to do a clean you must clean it stand up and then squat again.

He didnt count any of the kids I taught to cleans maxes.

My brothers friend we adopted turned into a Clean MACHINE! and this guy wont count it!

If I was not so busy with the gym I would take over there offseason program. And punch that fat bastard coach in the nuts.:annoyed:

    Its so frustrating!!

The old weight training coach at my old high school didn't really make anybody do anything. We would do a few upper body workouts, bench, incline, lat pull downs, side lat raise and be done for the day. Then lower body was usually box squat, squat, and a few lunges. When the head football coach was fired and a new one came in he replaced the strength coach with a guy that played for UGA and I immediately started seeing gains. He came in 1st semester and took over 2nd semester. Until he took over I was stuck at ~150 bench, ~180 squat, 145 clean. When he took over, 2nd semester of junior year, it was all gains from there. I ended senior year benching ~275, squatting 300, cleaning 200. My 40 yard dash went from a 6.5, old coach, to a 5.3 with new coach.

I've been eating great lately, nothing bad at all. Feeling good!

    About to work out.

I work out to help me look good, haha. Mostly though to help me perform my job better. I'm a firefighter, my community pays me to be on my A-game any time we are called out.

Heavy Romanian (stiff-legged) deadlifts, then walking lunges weighted with DB's (step far out in front, knee to ground, all your weight on front leg), then finish off with lying leg curls. That'll hit your hams and glutes good

Once a week if I remember lol. Ya, I still wear the bioposture sleeve on it which helps, but since I've gone back to squats the last 3 months it's definitely improved, weird I know. Thanks man.

Sean what happened to your knee and what do you use when you work out? I have a bad knee that prevents me from squatting like I would like to.

    Check out my build
This is my "before and after". Took about a year and a half of regular work outs and eating the right food at the right time of day. Went from about 210 (at the fattest point) to 185ish at just over 6' tall.
