Howdy I'm New On Here and need ideas!

Ok so I had a pride and joy,
2003
Toyota Tacoma
DBL cab (4 door)
V6 PreRunner SR5
117800 miles
Fully synthetic oil since 80k miles
Front bug guard
4 window rain guards
Side running boards with running lights
Spray in bed liner

The only thing I wanted different was the TRD package and/or 4x4
And maybe a little lift.

Ok, but Tuesday on my drive to work my wife and I hydroplaned into a tree going about 50-55 mph....... The truck is most likely totaled and I'm now on the hunt for another Tacoma. Thankfully neither of us were hurt much at all and we had full coverage.

So now I need ideas on what to look for in choosing my next truck. I will say I by no meams want to leave the Toyota world, but i have thought of going to a Tundra, but at min I hope to get another tacoma this time with with TRD!

If anyone has tips on what to look for or what to watch out for in buying a used Tacoma please let me know!!!

I know the one I had was taken care of the best it could cause the first owner was my father-in-law! I had plans to invest more and add to my truck and now I have to find a whole nother baby! :-/

Oh yeah guys and I new ish to all the Tacoma info... Like some where on these pages I read that 05-08? Tacomas may not have the best transmissions?

Any kind of info like this is awesome! I want my truck to be with me 300k miles or more of it can!

I'm mainly looking for a daily driver. But I want to be able to play! 4x4 sounds great, but I've heard that even with the TRD slip lock Diff. it is hard to get stuck...?
I do plan to tow trailers now and then (small uhal, BBQ trailers, etc). Also I do a lot of hauling med. weight stuff in the bed (furniture, construction tools and supplies).
Don't plan to trash it! I like mud, but I couldn't seem to let my last one go more than 3 weeks before I had to wash an wax it!

Yeah I kinda felt that way too. I have yet to go see it in person. Did an NADA and seems pretty fair on the value...

 

I see you might go to the Tundra, but if you're going to stay with the Tacoma- do you only want to see first generation Tacomas, or are you considering second generation Tacomas?

 

I'd be happy with either one. But I would love to have my truck paid off (my last one was) or at least pretty close to it, so I kinda figured by looking at them I'll prolly end up with a first gen.

And I think the biggest thing I want right now is a truck that has been taken care of the way I would, did, and will.

I can add onto it later with mods an stuff.

 

That Tacoma you posted looks like a really good deal.. I would definitely check it out if I were you. I see some people sell them for 2-3k more than that with only 10k less mileage on them. Seems to be really clean in the pictures.

That may be better, I would ask the 1st Gen guys for advice, they know a lot more than myself when it comes to those year models.
