    I can help plan that portion of the route from Bessimer Mine Road going east towards Giant Rock/Landers. that would maybe tack on at least another hour and a half maybe 2 hours depending on the route to your day before you hit hardball at Highway 247. with the MORE race and spectating this would be a long day. there is also a fire road that starts north of 247 and barely east of Landers and it comes out just below Baldwin Lake next to Big Bear, from there you can jump on 2n16 or whatever that fireroad is designated as.


    edit: meant to say the fire road starts south of 247

    so since there is going to be a lot of wheeling, i figure those who plan on camping should roll to the cabin first to drop off their stuff, and roll out to meet those who are only coming for the day somewhere. options are:
    1) meet at bessemer mine road or camp rock road in lucerne, wheel to barstow, eat at slash X, watch some of the race, loop back to lucerne, then up to Green Valley.
    2) meet at Barstow, watch some of the race, wheel from Barstow down through lucerne and back up to Big Bear, all off road (shorter than option A)
    3) All meet up at Green Valley, wheel down the mountain to lucerne, loop to Barstow, eat, watch race, loop back to lucerne, drive up to Big Bear. (longest option)
