Forgive me if this a stupid question. (I come from the Jeep world when going into 4wd meant throwing mechanical levers, turning hubs etc.

On the 2012 Taco when turing the dash knob to 4H or 4L what are the series of events that take place?

I see there is something that is called the ADD system with a vacuum controlled fork for locking the front.
My question is to how the Transfer case handles it's shifting duties from 2H, 4H, 4L?

If you can point me to a writeup or explanation it would be appreciated.

    Thanks

The visor card and manual do not in any way answer the OP's question on the mechanics of the transfer case .

When you throw the switch to 4WD your world changes. Mountains that once stood proud and snowy become small hills. Raging rivers that shape those mountains become brooks, creeks no more than ... that deep. Mud pits that have swallowed generations of trucks before you become a simple shallow mud puddle on the way to the hill. Woodland fairies, half naked, dressed in ferns, come pouring from the trees at the tops of the hill. They are drawn to you like a moth to a porch light. You'll grow 4 inches, your IQ will leap by 40 points. You'll buy a tow strap and chuckle as you tuck it away because you know ... you'll never need it.

My friend when you throw that switch, you'll never look back. Your wallet will empty, your fears will ooze out of you like the first piss on a morning after a few to many drinks.

    What will happen?

Four wheel fucking drive will happen!

In my neck of the woods, fat, tube-top wearing, redneck women come out and yell, "boy, you ain't got shit!" Then they throw empty beer cans at your truck.
