1. This is the context by which I made my sarcastic observation.
2. If you truly believe Hockey=NHL then you are ignorant. In my opinion it is nothing short of wrong to suggest that a sport is yours simply because you throw more money at it. The NHL is a corporate entity that employs hockey players. It is not a sport itself.

 

So on the local news a few nights ago in Hotlanta they had a story on the Jets and basically how the team sucks there as it did in ATL and nothing has changed, fans pissed, players unhappy ect...I dont follow the rest of the league as much as I use to, but any trugh to this? I watched them play the Pens the other day and lost 8-5 and man was it awful....beer league galore.

I get the honour of watching each and every game if i choose. I choose not to...haha. Not because I don't support the team( I have purchased their season tv package), but because they are pretty boring to watch. What has changed is that the arena they play in is sold out each and every night for the next 3 years, and they get a lot of fan support.

 

It will be interesting to see what happens to their UFA's and RFA's this yr. They will need to keep kane around.

 

They may let some UFA's walk. Wellwood, Oduya... Kane is the guy on the team with the greatest offesive potential, but his actual production is nothing remarkable. This teams greatest weakness is a lack of finish. No one seems to be able to score consistently. Ironically, the teams biggest defensive liability could be their greatest offesive weapon. Byfuglien. It is no coincidence that he played forward during the Hawks run to the cup.

 

I hate to agree with that but it's so true. One girl I talked to in high school didn't even know that hockey was a sport...... I wanted to slap her so hard!

 

They should hang on to Wellwood IMO

 

After watching the game on Saturday...Buff looked like the fat player you pick on the original Nintendo hockey game that the little guys just skate around. He looked terrible that game, other than how big he is, you didnt see him do anything.

Having a huge fan base that supports the NHL was my point - with that comes the money. If you think having fans is "throwing money at it" then I guess it is what it is.

I am in no way claiming ownership of the NHL. Lets just all get on board with the fact that the US has more NHL fans then Canada. I know our larger fan base is because we have a larger population, but to speculate that we as a country don't know what an offside play is, is just asinine.
