Do you really think that they would sell a 200 mph (Ford claim) with a suspension that could not handle it? Solid axle, or not, they have done wonders with the technology. NASCAR uses solid axles and they go pretty fast Shit corvettes still use pushrods when everybody else went to OHC engines.

I am quite certain that there is a traction control, launch control and any other electronic nanny that you might want.

Paddle shift? Hell, son, some people still know how to drive like a man, with a 3rd pedal. ;)

Yes, they would and do. Like the GT500.............that only had 420 some odd ponies. Solid rear axle, no doo-dads, no blinking lights or fancy buttons. :snore: It's a great car..............for going in a straight line

You're talking about a sport that turns left 95% of the time. Yes, they do have road courses but they still cannot go fast around the corners.

And it can be sketchy trying to shift going around a 90° at 125 MPH.

And I thought you were a man. Keep your blinking lights and ATRAC buttons.

Doing anything other than trying to keep a machine on the road at 100+ is a task. Even flickin your foot to upshift at 125 in a turn isn't just another blink of the eye. Id go for a paddle shift over a 3rd pedal any day if given the choice

Solid rear axle is preferred for strait lines and my 89' did great at the track. I used to run 12's, all engine, with 3-1/2" front radial tires and 12" biased rear cheater slicks.

I turned with the skinny pedal not wheel :D

    Automatics > manual
    in a strait run

    :p

    X2

I was mostly just fucking with Ben earlier.

I prefer the autos too, but mostly because I am lazy, but I do like the involvement of stirring the gears once in a while. I'm not a race car driver, I'd be in it for the fun of it, not best lap time.

The GT500 still has a solid rear axle for the reason Boyd stated, straight line. Ford knows that it would handle better with an IRS, but wanted the marketing line of 1/4 mile performance. All the magazines agree the solid axle holds the GT500 back. The 2013 should be interesting, apparently they did one hell of a job tuning the suspension on the Boss 302 for handling duties. One would think the lessons would carry over.

I have driven the Vette and Camaro and they are pretty fast, but I was not impressed with the quality of feel. that being said, I have not driven a new Mustang, but I am a dyed in the wool Ford guy.

One really shouldn't be shifting mid-corner when driving fast. Real easy way to upset the balance of the car no matter what type of transmission you are running. Your gear should be selected at corner entry, before the car is under full load.

I was just trying to stir the pot :D

if you want real fun on turns drive in the rain with radial's in the front and biased slicks in the rear

I have no idea how I didn't crash that thing as many times as I lost it
