I realize that this question has been asked a million times on this forum but I have yet to really find an answer. All I see are people talking about the beeps not the honks or talking about trucks from a different year then asked in the question. So I ask, Does anyone know how to disable the "honking" with locking and unlocking my doors? I have a 2011 Tacoma SR5 pre runner double cab. Thanks

Did you buy it used? I would suspect that the horn honking is an aftermarket system, or maybe a dealer installed option and they chose to use the horn instead of a beeper, or an aftermarket unit the dealer used instead of the toyota one.

The "beeps" Toyota vehicles make is part of Toyota's/Lexus' keyless entry system and if you have it, their alarm system. However not all of them "beep", a lot of tacomas ive seen in my area don't.

If its a Karr system with the blue blinking light below the steering wheel. Here is what you do. Turn key to on (don't start) turn key to off, then press the button under the blue light 3 times. Done deal. Good luck

Mine doesn't honk. But it does Flash it's lights.
Once for locked. Once for unlocked and 2 times if it was unlocked and you press the unlock button.

    My 2005 Tacoma honked, my 2007 doesn't.
I just thought the previous owner turned it off?

On my Karr system, the honkin is one of the settings. Mine honked. I hated it. I called the Karr people and was told how to disable that setting.

So I finally solved my problem. It was in Valet mode. To get it out you need to put the key in the ignition and turn to on, then off, then on, then off, then on and it will disable blinking red light and horn honking. Thanks to the service guy at Longo Toyota!
