Supposedly the 4wd has 8 fittings, does anybody have a drawing of where they are? I've never had to lube a chassis, what tools are required?

8? Where do you get that from? I've always only done 5... All along the drive shafts. Two on the front DS from transfer case to differential, 3 on the 2-piece rear DS, all at the U-Joints. Rear DS ones are on the outside, front ones are inside the f'n U-Joint and are a PITA to get to! Especially the one on the transfer case side because of the skid plate and frame cross member.

Just need a grease gun and some grease. I have a mini grease gun with a flexible tube to bend it around to get to the damn zerks...

Hmmm.... General consensus on TN is that are only 5.... Wonder where the other 3 are.... I know I haven't found any, but then I didn't really look. If it was 4, I'd say maybe one on each wheel bearing or something, but 3?

ha ha, thats cool. When I was at an auto parts store the big joke was to call the "new guy" and ask for them, the bearing book was like the size of 3 King James version of the Bible, and he would look in the book forever and never find any. DOH !

Seriously, I've only been doing 5 for last couple years. Mine's an 06 so I don't know if they've added more or not. I'd never heard of it having 8. Can you get more info from the place that said there's 8?

Yeah, let me do some more research, see if I can't find out why it says 8 fittings. Thanks for your help.

no problem. If you find out were the other 3 are, I'd like to know. Maybe I'm missing something, or have others that should be grease occasionally.

If you like greasing try a `62 GMC House Car. I use a check list. Every moving part has a zerk. It should last forever. The `74 Dodge is way less.
I have never greased a taco.

I haven't been home for six months so I can't crawl around to look myself, but you might find them on slip joints on the drive shafts or on the steering column U-joints.
