I just want to know what my other options are between a gnarly 10k total chaos build and a janky ass block lift. I'm not as hardcore as most of the guys here, I dont go out as often, my truck is old, has lots of miles, etc. I can't justify a ridiculous build because frankly, I don't make that much money or use the truck in that way. I just want the damn thing to sit higher off the ground than 6" and be able to take a desert trail faster than 5 mph rolling up and down the effing whoops.

Truck is a '96 2WD, 5Lug, regcab, manual, shortbed, basic as basic gets.

Any input would help. The local shops just want to sell me crazy ass TC LT kits and whacked out custom bedcages. Not trash talking those things, theyre awesome, and I wish I used the truck enough to DO it. I just wanna have some cheap fun and not break 4k worth of parts every time I go out.

Here's what I've been thinking from what I've gathered...

Trutrac in the diff. -going for cheap, and reliable. not 100% locking crazyness.
Spindles/5150s up front -to avoid glass fenders
New leaf pack in the back
sitting on 30-31's -dont want rubbing/needing to hack my fenders to shit.

Any thoughts, pros/cons would be great. especially if you have had these setups. I'm sick of hearing "f@ck spindles go LT all day because its better".

Monday night karaoke... I'm hammered.

^^ honestly, I would just stick with the spindles, leaf pack, and coil overs + rear shocks.
I love my mid travel set up. But I had the money and want for more. So im going long travel

For spindles, the only thing I've been able to find is a Fabtech kit that comes with the spindles, shocks, rear AAL, and...something else. Anyway, that kit just looked chintsy. The shocks looked cheaper than oem. Do you guys know of any other spindles, either part of a kit or not, that are a little bit beefier?

I'm pretty dead set on keeping the exterior of my truck stock. It's not a trophy truck you know, why would I try to make it look like one? lol

These questions should be in the 5 lug threads, u will get much more feed back from people with similar set ups  my mid travel setup was awesome! Only reason I'm moving up o LT is I just wanted to push it more. Good luck and just do ur research(like ur doing) and don't jump into anything.

And who ever that mean guy was, he don't anything about suspensions lol.

Yeah, I've been digging though old 5lug threads too. Homework homework homework. I kinda want to jump on this Downey midtravel kit that a member is selling in San Diego... hmm.... from what i can tell, it checks every box that have for this build. more homework.

I have a feeling I'm gonna have to fill out an "Official Butthurt Report Form" on myself... Shit. Sorry DangleDick. I'm sure you're all the hottness when it comes to de fabz.

Yeah, but you have a newer, bigger, nicer truck with more engine in it as well. Flared fenders enhance the look of yo shizzle. Flared fenders on my baby little bitch taquito just screams douchebro unless im actually desert racing. which im not. just not trying to be or look like a poser. I'm shooting pretty minimalist here... just not fagtech minimalist.
