Long as they are not dry rated and have some tread!

not bad! price is a little high for me but not horrible. I am kind of wanting a completely stock one to start with so I can build up from that.

There is just something about doing it yourself that makes it even more special. haha I joined over on Toyota 4runner.org so I have been keeping an eye on the for sale section there too.

I had one as well, a 3rd gen. I loved it! I had to get rid of it when gas peaked a few years back. The good think bout the 3rd gen is that you can find them with a locking rear. I know for sure that some 99' models came with it.

That is the gen. I am looking at. Really like the look of the 3rd gen. They are affordable too. I would definitely like to find one with the E-locker. If not, no biggy. My plan is to eventually turn it in to an offroad rig since I will be moving out west in the near future so it will probably end up getting an ARB air locker in the long run. I haven't read up on the 4wd systems all that much but there is one model that has a "trac" system that, from what I understand, locks the center diff. I am not totally sure how the system works. I am still reading up on all the different stuff they have so I know what I am looking at when I go to buy one.

I just checked them and they are not in very good shape at all. They hardly have any tread and the dry rot is beginning to start. Sorry.

if anyone in this thread was planning on going to the harlan trip the first weekend in march, it's been cancelled since the body shop has taken longer to get my truck back to me.

we are going to 491 offroad in crittenden, ky this saturday at about noon.

Yes I had a 98 4Runner. Loved it, just not much ooommmppphhhh for towing, and got shitty MPG. Other than that, it was bullet proof. I had over 140k on it when i sold it and it was perfect. Kind of wish i still had it as it was a really good looking SUV. I would def. recommed one.

You will be able to find some mud at Bills that is unavoidable. This is my truck there after a day this past summer when we didn't have rain for about two weeks. We did just about the entire park in about 6 hours.

Well i guess my picture isn't working I'll have to fix this at home.

No wheeling for me with the Tundra. I need new leaf springs. One of the middle leafs on the driver side broke. I am trying to hold out a bit for taxes so I can replace them both at once. Staying stock height.

Bills is a lot of fun and lots of good scenery. The creek there is really nice. If you are into sand a great place to go is the Badlands in Attica, Indiana. That is the best offroad park I have ever been to. Huge hill climbs in sand are the best. Plus with sand there is really no chance of body damage. I have always been there with my raptor and its the only place i can get it going full speed.
