im going to start putting 5% in my 401k and my work will match 100% of that 5% :)
10% in a normal savings that i wont touch.

and starting in march im going to start making a mortgage payment to my mom (how ever much my house would be that im looking to get) and she will save it for a year for me for a down payment.
so i got it all worked out in my head, i just need to do it

Then make sure you remember about other things for the house. Electric, water, cable, internet, food, Home owners Insurance, funiture, cleaning supplies, the list goes on and on.

Yeah I'm in profit sharing at work 8% for me and 1/2 my pay check goes straight to savings. And I make a mortgage payment to another savings account I have so when I move out I'm used to being broke lol

well i want something i can afford on my own and i dont have to rely on room mates.
how much does all that stuff generally cost?

    80k house 4.5%apr with a 30yr loan = 283.75 a month
mtg ins (im not coming in with 20% down) - 60 a month
electric water cable HOi all house monthly bills? - 400-600
    cell phone - 50
    internet - 80
food and stuff that ill need to replace in the house - 400
then couches and stuff but thats a one time buy.

    is the above about right?

so about 1400 a month without a room mate.. ill be able to make that pretty easy.

dam! thats crazy man i hate being broke.
