I wouldnt go anywhere near a 1000 for your first bike. A 600 is just as fast as my bike but I have way more torque than most sports bikes since it is a v-twin. Shoot a PM to NE Taco. He is one of the best riders I have ridden with and also instructs racers up at loudon and works for a bike shop.

My $0.02... AJ, get something maybe even smaller than a 600? There are plenty of late 80s, early 90s model Hondas. For example the '89 Honda cb-1, 400cc is awesome. Not all that powerful, around 45hp, but an amazing riders bike. What it lacks in flare, it makes up for in what I believe to be much more desirable attributes, like handlilng and reliability for ex. Not to mention they are not very common, so the rareness factor, and you can get a good one for pretty cheap. Easy to work on too. Hope this is handy!

I had a 06 cbr600rr it was a great bike . I just lost interest in riding . And it wasn't the most comfy bike to ride . Seeing im 6'5" But really great at the track . If I got another bike it would be a cruiser Or a SV style bike more sit up straight type of ride . It all depends on what type of riding you will be doing . If you want to get into track riding something like that would be good . If you just want to go on long rides on a Sunday I'd look into something else . Your ass will be hurting after 10miles .

For the next meet does anyone know of any really great trail rides? I know mass is pretty barren when it comes to longer trails... Wish I lived in colorado... Or Vancouver.

I've gone with a friend up in Vermont. He lives on a mountain and there are some tricky access roads to the top. not very long, but wicked fun!
I could drive up any day man! as far as flying up i still need to get my hands on a plane without getting yelled at by some school nazi here...

And thanks for the info rob! I'll check them out! I would definitely like to get up to maine, vermont and new hampshire more. i usually only go up there for camping like once a year... pretty pathetic seeing as i love to... Also awesome photos! looks like a lot of fun!

I was just talking with a buddy at work he got a jeep trail rig . He says he goes to Freetown state forest . Tons of trails with a good mix of terrain . Might be worth checking out .
    http://www.mass.gov/dcr/parks/southeast/free.htm
There's a trail map on this site .

I think parts of freetown are illegal. In Mass, Off Road Vehicles are under 1000 pounds. My club will most likely be doing a meet and greet this year. You guys should attend and see some serious off roading.

I think your right on parts of it being illegal . I know they have certain trails only for Dirtbikes and quads but I'll have to look into it a little more . I'd love to come check out this serious wheeling . Post it up when find out the dates .
