Hey guys i figured one of you would know, how do you know when coilovers need a rebuild? just when the seal leaks, or are there other ways of knowing? also how would you know if they are low on oil?

lol ok thanks, mine arent leaking just gotten pretty soft since the time i first removed all the preload so i thought maybe there are other ways of them "going bad" and needing a rebuild. i guess the springs just got softer since theres no preload, im able to grab my bumper and "shake" the truck a good 3" downwards. is that too soft? i just have the stock springs for the 2.5" SAW coilovers so im not sure what spring rate they are

You can get new coils. Maybe a heavier spring rate?

i just checked the website and they come with 650lbs. is it really worth swapping springs on midtravel shocks? i usually only see it done on the LT shocks. since i dont have the swaybar and soft coils it leans ALOT on the road, which i dont mind im just trying to see if a heavier spring rate would be worth the gain
edit: i also plan on keeping the front MT for a while and i prefer not to add another inch of preload to stiffen it up a bit

Probably not worth it , unless you find coils for a cheap price. I can charge the shocks with Nitro if they are possibly low.

i dont know how comparable a tube bumper to a plate bumper can be but post up the status in here or your build thread and ill keep an eye out for it:cool:

Check nitro pressure, look for dried black oil at bottom of shaft. That's where 1st noticed any symptoms of rebuild needed soon.

People that lt'd first gens. With the total chaos kit the steering extensions directions say to switch the left oem tie rod to the right and right to the left. I did but the alignment for toe currently makes one side have a bunch of thread an none on the other. Any body got suggestions? Or should they have stayed on the sides they came off? Im trying to correct my steering wheel to straight. I was told to turn both tie rods to the right but im out of thread on the right and its all on the left.

I don't know man, but u could put it back in middle then pop the shaft off where it meets rack and skip a tooth or so and put it back on the see if that gets u closer to center... There's a few threads on this here and TTORA. I'll try to find them.

That would be awesome thanks . I think it did move. My truck was previously crashed.

If it moved from that then it more than likely skipped in the rack or something. Ur rack could go out on you later...thenspot I'm referring to is a splined union or whatever they are called. It is not possible to skip a tooth on that from a crashnor something. It has to be unbolted and slid off then reslide on and bolt back. I have not done it, we ended up replacing my rack all together.
