OOPS... (I drilled the wrong holes for bed extender)

After reading on here about adding bed extender mods I still managed to F- things up. The brackets came with 2 templates which I assumed were right and left after glancing at SOME of the words noted: first mistake. So after carefully lining the templates up adn drilling holes, Put the extender on and realize that 1 side is 2'' higher than the other. FUCK!, How did this happen? I read through like 5 how tos on this... Turns out one template is for big trucks, and one is for small guys like ours.

I redrilled the proper holes and there are no issues with it working etc. But i have 2 unsightly holes that remind me of the dumbass I am everytime I look back there. Any suggestions and filling them in to hide my shame? Also, do I need to wory about painting behind the holes to prevent rusting? It almost felt like aluminum it was so easy to drill through...

 

You could leave the holes a a reminder to read 10 x's next time?

Or go to auto parts store/home depot and look for a rubber/plastic plug/gromit to fill the holes.
