Okay so I obviously missed this group buy but I'll get in on the next but I'm confused seems like every one is saying the h1 kit is better then the d2s but to me it seems like it would be the other way around cause if you go on the trs website with the h1 you really have only one choice of ballast where as on the d2s you have more than one and you can get 55w could some one explain this too me?

If you go to hidplanet.com there are comparison pics that show the difference in the h1's and the d2s.

The mini H1 was designed by itself whereas the Mini D2S was designed to utilize parts from already popular retrofits such as the FX-R and many OEM applications. They both have a smaller projector and are nice for first time retrofitters because they don't require a whole lot of modification of any kind really. All of those "options" that you see available as far as bulbs/ballasts go are honestly for larger retrofits. You could buy the best bulbs and ballasts on the market, but if the equipment you put them in isn't that good then you will not come even close to the full potential. The mini series of projectors also don't play all that nice with 50w ballasts. They are small and have a tough time dissipating the extra heat. Some people run them, but TRS definitely does not recommend it.

The choice is really up to you when it comes to doing a retrofit. Go onto hidplanet.com and search around a little bit. There is a lot of people there who know their stuff and there are also comparo pictures as well (JVX).

why do you think you need choices for different ballasts and 55w?

Thanks fOr the explanation... So the recommendation for a first time retro fit on a first gen is the h1? Btw how much harder is the fxr retrofit?

Idk I've always heard that 55w are brighter

on a retro fit you wont need 55w... the ONLY time I would reccomend 55w is for offroad lights. oncomming traffic does not appreciate that type of shit. plus 55w are suppose to burn out quicker than 35w lights.

Hey Guys, I got my retro kit a week ago and quite honestly have waited to put them in simply b/c I think I'm going to F*%k this up. lol.

I found the generic installation directions on the TRS site, but I was wondering if any of you know where I can find some directions specific to our 2nd Gen Tacos? I just want to make damn sure I get this right the first time.

Planning to take the lights out Friday right after work, so that gives me all weekend to get them done if need be.

EDIT: I have the Bi-xenon Morimoto Mini Stage III Kit (H1)

    Thanks in advance !

At first I almost regretted going for the FX-R instead of the Mini H1.

    It's huge.
    TestFitting_d8ad6fe03ac6016172486b7ae44ad0b7f7ff6a4c.jpg

Shroud wouldn't fit inside and/or cover the big hole completly.
    TestFitting_4_41861d7e36a8f8b56160bd582bee26a17231ddb2.jpg

    Then I went with vacuforming.

    Vacuformed_870156c3a6677431ac83b3b022dddc5cbb9b1566.jpg

Almost finished. Still require minor trimming and paint.

And I'm working on the other side.

Obviously those aren't Tacoma headlights :)
