Do we have enough room behind the seats for something such as 1 sundown SA-8 in a double cab? (using the whole back wall area)

It *might* fit but it would be tight. The airspace is there you would just need to know how to tune a port. You might could have the sub firing sideways and a port facing the back of the seat.

You would have to do some measuring but my best bet would be around 5 inches top mount depth.

I just put a SA-10 in my 2012 AC and had to build a custom box for it because the magnet was so big. I doubt one will fit behind your rear seats

Max depth, without modifying seat mounts, is a bit less than 5.5" (assuming 3/4" mdf). With some sub box mods can get to 6". Not sure what seat mount mods can actually get you.

Look into Kicker CVT subs, I had 2 of them in my old truck and they hit hard as hell for a shallow mount sub. I'm happy with my single SA-10 but almost wish I would of went with a single CVT again so I didn't have to build a custom box.

if its the old sa 8 it will fit, the new one thats being developed wont 6+ inches mounting depth. i actually had a sa10 behind my seats, i had to make a spacer for the speaker though

SwingCase, driver side. PVC Bike rack. Aftermarket stereo.
Spend a few bucks and get a decent sub. JBL GTO 804.

They will cost ~$60 each, and put them in about .3 fc^2 box (.55-.7 for a pair, sealed) and get some solid performance.

And they are pretty efficient, 150w should be plenty if you need to work with an existing amp.

Well a word of warning form a guy who's been down that road, you get what you pay for. If you cheap out you might get lucky and get a decent system but from my few years of trial and error I've learned that if you put a little bit more money into it it'll be just that much better.

yep...but the way I am looking at it is..i have seen many who have been impressed with these in other setups. If one fry's ...oh well 29$ lost...if gets stolen...oh well 29$ lost. Much better to pay 29$ for something to maybe make me happy, then hundreds. :) Yes...I am cheap at the moment. That happens when you have a honeymoon and all that to pay for.
