Bought a 24MM 1/2 drive socket and combo wrench. Socket is 12pt. Would rather have a 6pt socket.

 

must have read that too fast, thought it said 24MM rocket.

 

once you get to a certain size, they only make 12 points (at least in craftsman). If you can round off a nut that big, you need to be competing for the worlds strongest man.

 

If you can't find a 6 point 24mm in a regular socket, try looking for an impact socket(if you have the room for the thickness of the walls of the socket)...they are generally 6 point unless you go to snap-on, mac or any specialty to companies...Ken

I didn't like the 12 pt, so I found a 6 point.

I got an impact one from Lowe's. Sears didn't have any in stock and I didn't want to pay shipping

Made me go look in garage...my 24mm is an impact socket--6 sided, bought set up to 27mm 50% off at NAPA a while back, plus a set of Gearwrenchs 20mm to 25 mm (those are 12 sided).

The oil change is complete. I will do the transmission and rear differential tomorrow. I had other work to do today and just did not feel like jacking the truck up again.

Did you get one of those pumps for the gear oil...makes it much easier.

 

you don't need it for the rear diff

 

True ... I used it for all of them (rear/xfer case/MT/front) ... guess ya'll only have to do two, huh?

 

Here in Erie PA, we are blessed to have one of the original "Band Of Brothers" who calls Erie his home. Joe Lesnieski was a Pvt. and one of the original Band of Brothers in Ezy Company. I had the privilege of meeting him a few years ago at my neighbors fishing/hunting camp.

 

Yes I have a pump and a piece of tubing that attaches to the qt bottle.
