yea, or the 5165 with the same lengths..talking with toytec and DSM on what they would recommend with my setup...

DSM mentioned that bilstein is slowly getting out of production of the 5150s....

but DSM recommended the Fox 2.0s and Toytec deals mainly with Bilstein, so i'm curious to see what they recommend with my length specs i gave them...

taking things apart and lube the piss out of it...with the 4.56 gears, i been shifting a whole lot more so it's been on my mind recently

 

so been working with marco at DSM on figuring out a good setup for my shocks...the bilsteins just didn't have many options that can compare to what the foxes offer...

going with fox 2.0 resis with 10" travel..going to be approx 16"x26"...thinking of adding a couple washers at the top mount to push it down another 1/4-1/2" to give my extension a little more room

 

man tell me about it! got my eyes glued to your build to see how the upcoming projects turn out...i got another year left in my tires so i'll probably look into going to 34s or 35s when the time comes

 

One thing to look for when checking the shifter, is if the plastic white bushing, at the bottom of the shifter itself, is worn out or cracked. It will then cause poor shifting. Plus, if the rubber isolation in the middle of the shifter has a lot of years of use on it, it will make the upper half of the shifter wobble around, with to much play. Another member on here named Coupe, has a fix for that. He repairs them by replacing the rubber with a stronger flexible epoxy. Just something to keep in mind.

I feel for you on the timing cover gasket fix. I will be doing that to mine this weekend. Not hard, but definitely not fun...

 

One thing to watch out for when adding the washers on top the sock. I've got the all pro expo leaf pack and when the bump stop hits the frame, the shock is almost bottomed out. If your leaf pack is thinner than mine, the shock will bottom out before the leaf pack. And if you add washers on top the shock after that, it'll bottom out even sooner.

yea that has been a concern...when we measured, the collapsed length was at 18" from top mount to lower eye mount, so i should have 2" to play with, and with the wheeler bumps, the bumps should hit before the shock comes close to bottoming out. the washers will help keep the shock from fully extending. we measured 26" droop from top mount to eye, so the washer will help push the extended shock length past that 26" mark.

 

Remember that you will have a eyelet to stem converter for those shocks... I believe because the fox shocks are eyelets on both sides. That should add more length to the shock and maybe a lil more to check on colapsed. Don't know how much exactly, I've seen 1" tossed around on here but no sure numbers..I'm debating between the same shocks or 5150s too, its pretty much $100 more atleast...make sure to check the length with converter with DSM...

Edit: If you figure out which shocks, 'The Parts Whore' (TPW) says that he's still doing his deal on shocks (king/fox/bilstein) for tax season, heres the link. I PM'ed him tho with no response yet. Seems to be good prices if they're the same as the GB.

Where did you get the switches or did they just come with the lights? I'm looking at adding some lights to mine and I want to use the same style switches in the blank ports. They look awesome by the way!

i now have 3 of their switches in that location...took out the factory fog switch that was unused

 

i'm sick of working so much and having parts laying around!


throwing in the front bumps saturday so i can test them out wheelin sunday...


anxiously awaiting word on my foxes and when they'll be in my hands..then those will go on next...


going to try and knock out a couple items on my moab to-do list until the front goes in...

so until then....

i have a lot of small things to keep me busy until then...not like we'll be wheelin much, except for this weekend, until spring

 

so do they just fit snug in place after the filing? & did you just use the wiring kit that came with your lights? I plan on doing a off-road lights/fog lights combo on an Iron Bull Bumper so I'm definitely going to be getting some of these switches. Thanks for the info!

yup...keep testing it out while you're filing so you don't go too far, but if you do it right they stay in there nice and snug

wire up like you would any other switch with a light...battery, light and ground

the on-off-on switches get more complicated but if you go that route, ask for a diagram and they will provide you with a very helpful diagram
