Keeping behind seat Amp cool

So I have a 1st gen tacoma which is notorious for no space behind the rear seat. I have a great sub box from marv and the amp rack works well as well but the amp gets really hot behind the seat. The amp image dynamics i5800 is touching the metal and the seat cushion is a little melted. Any advice? I know the amp is not the nicest but I think it does an ok job. I was thinking redesign the amp rack to inlay it more into the back.

 

put some computer fans on the inside?

 

I was thinking that but theres really no space! maybe some fans and a heat proof cover for the back of the seat

Do a squirrel cage fan.

 

Just buy a better amp, maybe something Digital like JL audio. I wouldnt waist your time with fans and stuff... If the amp is getting so hot its buring stuff, get rid of it...

Its not worth chancing anything.. Take it from someone had have their SUV totaled for a Stereo fire :/

 

Amps should not get so hot it melts stuff. Behind a seat still has some air flow, it may not be allot but for the most part it should be fine..

Just like a proper working car, when you stop, no matter what the temp is, it shouldn't get hotter while stopped vs moving, i know there is a fan, but the temp should get to a certin temp and then stay there, if it gets too hot then there is something wrong.

If i had this problem, I would replace the amp with something better like JL audio or something.

thanks for all the input, I think I will take all the advice and put some computer fans in for now and save up for a nicer amp.
